Morning :hello:
nmlc  hope you're OK xx. Butterfly, take care. Hester I think you should get it over with, just go in on monday and shot the lot of 'em.
Miss tru's camera turned up yesterday afternoon, it was in her friend's car. Last night her phone reappeared, it'd fallen down the back of the sofa in another friend's house. Islandmaid  At least we got an apology from miss tru - about 15 actually, most face to face and two on facebookShe's a bit upset about not going out for a meal though, but I don't think she deserves it.
Master tru had a good night last night, judging by the shredded lettuce from his takeaway that's all over his bedroom floor :rotfl:
I love saturday mornings, that's when I go through all the bits that have appeared through the week. Receipts, lists, notes-to-self, etc. I put them all in order, put any spends, ins and outs on my spreadsheet then file or shred. I'm always amazed at how much clutter is just bits of paper. I use two baskets, one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom. As I tidy up I throw things in them to be taken back up/down.
Our friend from Southampton is coming round later, he's cooking a curry (I've told him a million times I DON'T LIKE CURRY!!!) and staying the night. He's hyper, can't sit still for more than about 15 mins and talks at a hundred miles an hour. I need to relax this afternoon to prepare my brain for his arrivalBulletproof0 -
Good Morning every one and welcome home Monogran
Well done to you Islandmaid for standing your ground ,kids have to learn their place in the pecking order and respect and politeness cost nothing.having tantrums and throwing her dummy out of her pram has got her nowhere so you stay firm and if she wants to be treated as an adult then she has to behave as one or just ignore the nasty bits and remind her that you are in charge not her and she will get the same at Christmas if she doesn't shape up.I have always been very firm with both my two Dds and my seven grandchildren If the little ones play up I just now lower my glasses and give them the 'Granny look' over the top.and say quietly "I beg you pardon" It always works and they get very shamefaced and apologise.Children even the older ones like to push the bounderies to see how far they can go and what they can get away with I think we all have done that at some point in our lives.Even when I was grown up and married with my own family if I said something that my Dad didn't like he would just 'look' at me and I knew exactly what he meant and I too would say 'sorry Dad'
Well I have been to the shops and got all the bits I need for the week.I have found its so good to get there early and get all the bits on the list and get home by breakfast time .No more food shopping until next saturday now as I have everything in for the week thank goodness.
Today after I have finished the bathroom I am going to play with my new gadget my new food processor that I got yesterday. So lots of baking will be going on I am hoping to make a cheese and onion quiche,a lemon drizzle cake, a victoria sponge cake, some twinks and a batch of iced fairy cakes and maybe a few scones That should keep me busy for the day, and I'll take some of the booty to my DDs tomorrow when I go to dinner.
Nail-biting footie match last night I had to watch it even though I'm not that fussed about football.I get cross when the ref lets the other side off when they foul a player so I tend to shout a lot at the t.v. good job I live alone, but four of my grandsons will be disecting the match tomorrow so I have to be au fait with all the intricacies:) Helps keep my 'Granny street cred' up to date
:)
Right off to do battle with the bathroom Hope you all have a good day andthe sun shines down upon you all
(I also got a line of washing out this morning before I went to the shops and its blowing nicely )
Cheers chums

Morning all, grey and windy here at the moment but no rain yet. jack and I enjoyed a dry walk and he met a doggy pal to run round with. Shalva send us some of that warm air please , so fed up with being cold. Well done Islandmaid for sticking to your guns, hope DD will learn lesson and apologise. HH you should not be mad to feel bad , you didn't know the e-mail wasn't for you. What is it about schools, sometimes feel ours is like MI5 with all the secrets we're not supposed to know but do!!!!!!!! Sistercas you should get help with DD's Uni fees etc: as DH has taken early retirement. When DD was at Uni my DH was made redundant and we got some more money some of which was a grant and didn't have to be paid back. The forms are a nightmare but I always found the helpline people very good. Good Luck with it all.Hugs to all in need, hope you find us a nice bunch Kitchenbunny. Have a good day all. DH has just said it's raining:j:(£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Morning all,
.
Sistercas, how on earth are you going to afford uni for DD1, its soooo expensive, we are looking for dd for next year and its  xxSistercas you should get help with DD's Uni fees etc: as DH has taken early retirement. Im not worrying about the course fees as they are not payable till after she qualifies its the accommodation - nearly £6000 a year  the grant she will get covers half of that and then there is living and travel expenses on top  we had to fill the grant forms in stating DHs current income , so when he retires we will have to do it all again and hopefully she will get more , im hoping its enough to cover her accommodation as although it will be a real squeeze, we can afford her basic food and travel . the Uni have said she wont be able to get a part time job either as the course is full time and very intensive they are expected to do 25 hrs own study on top of full time attendance :eek:0 -
blast - just lost my post!
Here's the edited version
Hester - stand up to them - it wasn't your fault!
Island Maid - well done:T
pottering around at home today plus making a chocolate cake for DHs birthday tomorrow.
Have a great weekend all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Afternoon all
The problem with the email I rec'd is that it came from someone far more important than me, so it has to be my fault, lol. TBH I don't give a flying f***, I'm not in the wrong & the attitude is pi$$ing me of big time, for all their threats I don't think they can sack me & anything else, well it will make little difference to me at my age.
Anyway on to the important things in life, I made 2 cottage pies & 2 meatloaves from 500gms of mince so that's a few meals in the freezer.
Bye for now.
Hugs Hester

Morning All
My eye is now very colourful, DD says she has an eye shadow the same colour so I could have a matching pair, sarky mare :rotfl:Knee is still very painful but the hospital said that it will be for about a month.
Hester...... How can it be your fault? If it was that secret then maybe the person who sent it should have spoken to the person involved and not sent it out in an unsecured email. After them cutting your wages I would be inclined to just tell them to p'off and if they try disciplinary don't accept it kick up as big a stink as you can, then take it to a tribunal.
Washing is on the line because at last it is is dry and very blowy so hopefully I won't have to use the airers.
DH and DD have gone down to the school fete, they do the face paintingSo at least I don't have them nagging me to sit down every five minutes
nmlc (((Hugs)))Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Sorry if you already said but what course is she doing? Uni's always say things like that but 99% of the time it's just not true. My Uni said we should do 2 hours independent study for every 1 hour of lectures that's 60-75 hours a week on uni work but noone did that. Not even my friends who got 100% in everything (maths so not easy) and most of us worked at some point.
How far away is she going? It is worth considering commuting, maybe not for the first year if she wants the "uni experience" but when you get her time table you'll have a better idea of what "full time" really means and whether commuting is feasible.
It's also possible to leave the uni halls after a few months and look for much cheaper private accommodation.
I know I'm coming across as really anti-uni and negative but often it's just not worth the extra money and hassle to go to a uni really far away. If she really must live away then there are student loans to supplement her grant and I'm sure there are other bank loan type things for education.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0
