Father's day + moonpig = bad idea

After watching (another) advert on TV about Moonpig I thought I'd give them a go. Considering this time they were advertising branded beers, which I thought would be a great idea for Father's Day. Rather than looking forward to seeing one of my best mates open a rare gift I've instead been left bitterly disappointed to read an e-mail one shopping day before the event to say "that due to production problems they are unable to dispatch my gift" the present was due to arrive tomorrow at the latest and telling me this late hasnt left me enough time to find something else suitable.
Despite the apology, a full refund and an additional £20 creditted to my account I just can't believe the company has failed to meet my needs. The cash wont be in my account for a few days yet and I dont really have enough to go out and buy something decent. Dont have any other occasions coming up either so the credit will have to be left until i cant find something to use it up for.
Has anyone else had a problem with them? Sorry for the rant just so angry I dont know what else i can get him at short notice!

i live in a small town. not many places to get a decent present unless its from a charity shop, phone shop or cash for gold. Our high street is a joke! Im sorry I thought i had put this on the Vent page but i must have been mistaken :P any ideas on what to get since your advice is so helpful?0

Bitterly disappointed? Really?0

just be glad they gave you the £200

Just get him a bottle of normal beer and make your own fathers day label to go on it- I did that for father's day last year and he loved it! Proper money saving and home made loveliness!0

Take him to the pub and buy him a beer. If he is a great dad I'm sure when you explain what has happened he will be more than understanding. Personally although I always buy a card and go for a meal, I find both mothers day and fathers day a bit of a jokeThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Yes I was disappointed to not get the present I had paid for I don't no why people are finding that so hard to believe. Fair enough if they had given me some warning so I could find a suitable replacement. The pub idea was good but the only pub round here is a grotty little place so we would need to drive to the next town. I can't drive so then my dad would have to so it would only be for a soft drink.
I normally don't bother with fathers day but he has had a rough time of it recently so thought that this would be a nice little surprise for him. The £20 extra they gave has to be used in one order and the only thing I wanted they can't give me so it's just a bit useless. £20 is a lot to spend on cards when the next ones I will buy will be christmas, the credit expires in a month.
I'm sorry for daring to vent on a vent section of the forum I only really wanted to know if it had happened to anyone else. If this is the attitude of this website then I'm not sure I should bother with it again.0 -

Don't take any notice of others on here. The internet is not the 'real world' thank goodness!
I've been using Moonpig for about 4 years now to send cards and gifts to others. I must say I've not had any problems with their service.
Just chalk it up as experience and move on - life's too short!0 -
This sort of thing has happened to me occasionally when it comes to internet shopping - despite ordering well in advance the product has not arrived in time.
NOBODY in my circle of family or friends has ever had a problem with me putting a printout of the pressie in an envelope and handing it over, explaining the situation, and letting them know it'll be one or two days late...0 -
I totally get your anger and dissapointment-Moonpig should have notified you sooner.
But on the flip side, if I had not had a dispatch email a few days before the event, alarm bells would be ringing and I would be contacing the company to see what was going on.0
