What are peoples problems with having a loan for a holiday? If someone wanted a kitchen or car or conservatory would they always save up to pay for it upfront? NO! People like to spend their money on different things believe it or not!

Actually, I agree with the people who think that taking a loan for a holiday is a bad idea BUT ultimately its none of our business, so I'm dismayed to see the OP get such a hard time about it in a post that's about NatWest's service, not about problems with repaying such a loan.

But the difference between a holiday and a car should be fairly obvious. Please tell me you honestly don't think there's no difference there at all.

    Update:

9.30am I was at the local branch and was seen to by a different person at the help desk. The lovely lady told me my card had been cancelled and I'd need a new one. I asked of I could still make withdrawals or use the account details to purchase something online and she replied yes it's not a problem.

I waited in line and saw the cashier who refused to give me any money or even discuss anything with me!? I explained the situation and what had just been discussed with the help desk. The lady then checked my account again and said "your account has been frozen we need to call fraud prevention". Who was apparently closed I'd need to try in branch again on Monday.... With great confusion I left the bank, immediately calling "fraud prevention" myself from my mobile. The call went through and they explained I'd need to go in to branch and have THEM call the fraud prevention department. I asked if I could make any withdrawals (I have both my own money and part of the loan sitting there) they advised me to see the person who has done my loan application and they would be able to assist me further, the withdrawal would be up to this persons discretion....

Hopped back into the bank where the lady was confused and spoke to the manager.. I can see them whispering away in the corner and the manager laughs... Hmm... He looks at me then sort of sizes me up, turns back to the lady from help desk and nods NO!

She returns and says I'm sorry we can no longer discuss this until Monday. You will need to come into branch....

I also agree with this but its not our business, what the OP does is up to them.

I am struggling to believe the OP to be honest. Banks these days are seriously focused on customer services and any complaints are frowned upon by head office.

I just cant see any branch of NatWest treating a customer this badly.

Agreed, none of this is really ringing true.

I would ring the Natwest and make a complaint.

Their contact details can be found here:
    http://www.natwest.com/commercial/contact/g1/existing-customer/complaints.ashx

    Contact number: 0800 015 4212.

I would if possible go into another branch as it sounds like the management/staff culture in the one you went to was appalling.

I have taken loans out with Natwest/Halifax in the past both online and in branch and never had such problems.

I would agree you would be better served paying for the car/holiday on a 0% card, but ultimately you've made your choice and I'm sure you've considered the other options.

Very surprised by the comments of some of the posters here, and I'm sorry there have been so few replies that actually answer your question.

Best of luck, try not to think about it until Monday and then start to go through the official complaints procedure.
Thanks to everyone for the comp links

I agree it's their business what they take a loan out for nobody else's. I am a customer of natwest but have never taken out a loan with them, however i do know people that have and they have never experienced this process or had to show any form of proof of what the loan was used for. hope you have a lovely holiday xx

What are you sorry for ?

So would you rather we all post replies that the OP wants to hear, people posted they're opinions / thoughts which is what the is about as its a money saving site.

I've never been desperate enough for tat to jump through all those hoops.

I would've told them to clear off and made do without the banger/holiday shizzle.
