Can everyone please get over the holiday criticism, Kaldingo has already explained that he has money coming in and has decided to take a holiday. That's his choice, and he's clearly aware of the risks.
The point of the post is the ridiculous treatment by Natworst0 -

HAHA well I guess you all have good points and I'm not one to get grumpy.
So what's the outcome? Natwest have decided I don't deserve a holiday but I should but a car? I don't care much about the poor service im just astonished at why my accounts been frozen and card cancelled.
Whatever your views I'd like to thank you for the input. It's appreciated
Again, in case you missed it. I'm not asking if I can afford a holiday or of a loan is a good idea... I'm asking is the normal practice / procedure for a person in my shoes?0 -
So you've not thought about how much interest you are paying on the holiday, or you don't want to think about it?0

Just under 9%.0

Thank you baileycat, yes in hindsight I should have probably seen this coming due to such a poor & unprofessional start.
This doesn't mean that you deserve it thoughit would've taken a very strong person to momentarily put the new car & holiday out of their mind, give the guy what for & then vote with their feet.
It's the same for a lot of places (shops included), where there's maybe one branch of a company that I won't touch with a bargepole, whereas the rest of them are OK and vice-versa. I'll never forget the day I was in my local RBS branch in Rutherglen & was spoken to like an utter piece of sh1te by the teller, I was 18 and interested in talking to someone about changing from their teen bank account. I was mortified with her attitude, presumptuous nature & the way she spoke to me. I took the time to write a very lengthy complaint but never followed through on sending it, as the service I'd received over the years had been second to none and I'd only had this one minor hiccup.
Hawaii you jammy git, would love to go myself one day... probably by the time I've saved enough to go, I'll be about 500but your financial circumstances are your business, and not the point of your initial post. I do hope they can get it resolved for you & you can book those tickets

If he put Debt consolidation, they may have cross referred your car invoice and seen your attempts to waste it on a holiday so froze the account.
If that is the case it's a shame they didn't do it as standard practice years ago. Imagine what better state the country would be in now.0 -

Surely that's not really relevant, I know it's a decision that a lot of people frown upon to finance a holiday in this way, but that's his/her choice.... They came on for advice on why the account was frozen, not how much the total cost of the loan will be or whether it's a good idea. They've already decided to take the loan, it's no good trying to talk them out of it if they've their heart set on it.
I hope I don't come across rude, I just think it's rotten that people are jumping on the bandwagon to start criticizing people's decision for taking finance and avoiding the actual question. It's a luxury that many of us cannot afford, but perhaps the OP is happy with paying the interest in return for the holiday of a lifetime? It's not really our business, the OP is simply looking for practical banking advice on whether his experience is normal business practice.0 -
The reason for loan was put down as car/holiday.
Is my holiday money being blown way out of proportion?
I don't think it's of anyone's concern but it's costing about 4.5k. Interest: lets say 10%? 4.5k is about 450. Hope youre satisfied you grumpy fart.
Thank you baileycat, yes after working full time with no holiday for 4 years I think I need it. I will try the local natwest again just because the phone call demanded it be that. I hope it gets sorted without making me regret it further.0
