In the OPs case, if they answer the phone, and ATOS contact their doctor, their may be no requirement for an ESA50 form, or a medical, and they may be simply put on ESA.
There is no assessment period for those transitioning between benefits.0 -
You will be automatically treated as having a limited capability for work in the following circumstances:
You are receiving treatment by way of intravenous, intraperitoneal or intrathecal chemotherapy (or are likely to receive such treatment within 6 months), or you are recovering from that treatment and Jobcentre Plus is satisfied that you should be treated as having a limited capability for work.

Just a quick question, if I do answer the phone and they ask me to attend an medical interview, why am I being asked to do this before I have filled in the ESA50 form? That is the form that determines whether or not I need a medical interview? No?
An approved healthcare professional will consider the questionnaire and any medical reports, along with any other information you may have provided.
If the approved healthcare professional feels that the DWP will need more information to make a decision on your benefit claim, they will recommend that you attend a face-to-face medical assessment.0 -

They are phasing out income support.
I have recently gone throught the switch and the phone call is to let you know what is hppening and why it is important to fill in the form they will send, also to answer any questions you may have.
I know scare stories can make you feel apprehensive but I went straight into support group, without any need for a medical, which basically means I get the same rate, albeit a different name.
