I currently get indefinate DLA (for life) I am on Income Support too.
Today I have received two calls and having traced the calls they are ATOS Healthcare, no doubt wanting me to attend a medical.
I have cancer Non Hodgkins Lymphoma stage 4 (of 4) I have just found out I have secondaries in the leg and am currently undergoing Chemotherapy (session 6 of 8) then I have 21 days of Radiotherapy. I cannot walk properly, have to be fed my meals at the moment due to fatigue. I have neuropathy, mental heal problems. I have Autism (Aspergers Syndrome) amongs many other medical problems due to the cancer (tumour in stomach etc etc etc )
Can these people really hastle me when I am on active chemotherapy???
Need help feel dreadful already from the treatment now I have this to deal with
Thanks Jeeves

Sorry to hear of your problems.
Are you on income support because of incapacity?
Just trying to work out whether the medical is for transfer to ESA or to do with your DLA.0 -
Nothing to do with my DLA. I get that for life. I am, like everyone else transferring from IS to this new allowance. I am guessing it is for that. I originally got IS because I couldn't work though illness. Hope that helps.0

It is likely that the process of converting your claim from IS to ESA has begun.
If you are receiving or recovering from chemotherapy - you are entitled to the support group of ESA.0 -
Indefinite DLA means that you will not be reassessed regularly, but you can be reviewed at any time.
Regarding the calls from ATOS, have they actually left a message, or was it more a case of dialling 1471 and googling the number?
If they have left a message, I would suggest that you ring them back (assuming that they have asked you to do this). Ask them to put any requests in writing as you are curently undergoing chemotherapy and are affected by the treatment.
If they have not left a message, I would await further contact from them.0 -
Have you been sent a form ESA50 to complete as part of the process of transferring from IS to ESA?0

Yes Googled the number as they kept calling, will wait for them to leave a message, mind they've called enough times to leave one0 -

The JC rang a few weeks ago saying I would be sent a form as I was going to be transferred. I don't understand the transfer to be frank or why I have to be transferred. What is esa? Anyway yes the jc called said it was imminent. x0 -
They have contacted you because you will shortly be transferring over to ESA. You are on IB and IS now but will go over to ESA.
They will send you a form and ESA50 to complete asking questions about your illness.
You will need to complete this and return it, if you dont return they can and will close your IB/IS claim and disallow your ESA.
When they recieve your ESA50 they will then decide if you need to attend a medical or you may just be awarded ESA on the strength of your ESA50. There are two groups in ESA the WRAG and Support.
Before you go into one of these groups you are placed in the assesment phase usually for 13 weeks.
Given what you have said about your illness you may go straight into the support group.
Hope it all goes ok for you0 -
Fill in the esa50 form as soon as you get it and ask all your HCPs to write corroborating evidence.
You should not even have to undergo a medical at this time.
PM me if you need further help or reassurance. I am not working tomorrow and will make myself available.0
