We've been gazumped and I'm distraight!

I've just had a call from the agents about the house we were buying and someone has put in an offer of over £10k more than us....we just can't afford to match it.....i'm devastated.....I know it's just a house but it could see us in it and it was a great house for us.....
I really just want to cut my nose off to spite my face now and pull our flat off the market and not look at any others because I just don't want any other house, i want this one!
I just need some reassurance i guess...maybe that we will find somewhere.....better than this house....i can't see how right now but I just need some stories of how people went on to find something 10 times as good after losing what they thought was their dream house!!!

Sorry to hear about your bad news.

We pulled out of a hous last year (different circumstance) but we were very disappointed, because, like you, we could see ourselves in the house etc. We ended up proceeding with our sale, and moved out in December!

We are now in the process of buying a bigger, nicer, better in every way house, one street along.

I always thought it was a cliche, but there really always is another house. Hang in there!

on the pluss side the swine that did this to you are probably going to be paying over the odds and with rising interest rates could find them selfves in trouble, while you being smart and not going for broke means you will be able to keep a roof over your head, the other folk might not.

best case senario is the gazumpers find they cant get a decent deal cause they offered to much, i wouldnt move but if you realy want it and let the agent know you are serious and they may come back to you at the original price, if it were me i would then offer 5k less on principle.

We lost a house this time last year after paying out for solicitors, mortgage fees and a house buying report. We also couldn't find another house to buy.

We then lost our buyer and was devasted.

Within a fortnight a nicer house came on the market and we found a new buyer privately, so saved on EA fees.

The people that gazumped us did actually buy it and now live next to a building site; 2 months after moving in the people next door gained planning permission to knock down and rebuild!

    Karma!

You will find a better house!!

We pulled out of a purchase over xmas/new year as the vendor was messing us about. Luckily we hadn't spent any money but we were still gutted. Really didn't believe we would find another like it but we have :D Its closer to town (where we are now) than the other one, its down a private road (the other one wasn't) has much better layout, and bedrooms are bigger. In all its a much better property.

    Hang in there!

Wishing evil on the buyers is a bit wrong.... its the vendor that has chosen to allow you to be gazumped remember. Wish all your evil onto them!!

I lost a house sale and found a better one so don`t worry. It`s happened for a reason.

I also agree that these things happen for a reason. I'm not a superstitious person, but as someone else's sig on these forums said "Everything works out in the end, and if it isn't working out, it's not the end!"
