How frequently did you bug your solicitor for an update?

I'm beginning to wonder if my solicitor is going off me!
Minor issue arose regarding a confusing query from my buyer's solicitor which had me in a bit of a panic over the last few days, and at first she was quite quick to reply to my emails but now it's all gone quiet!
I know there's a couple of solicitors on this board - I was wondering what sort of scale of bugging you get from your clients?!

We were emailing once/twice a week but resorted to calling every day in the end to ensure we got in by christmas.House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.
Hang in there everyone it is worth it0 -
I'd call my solicitor every second day - or at least twice a week - for an update, dressing it as "What can I do to help things along?". I exchanged in four weeks and completed in five. Mortgage, searches, survey etc all had to be done. It's my belief that if your name is in the front of their (and their team's) heads then it goes quicker than being passive.
All that and she worked on a basis that if it falls through then you don't pay any conveyancing fees. I've bought two houses through her and sold one.0 -
I lost a house sale and I never bothered my solicitor at all. When I put in an offer on the house I bought near xmas I rang most days, sometimes several times a day. I know he was getting annoyed with me, but hey, who cares. I was paying for the pleasure and I was determined the same thing wouldn`t happen again. I managed to complete this sale in just over 3 weeks thorough persistance.0

Grrrr! solicitors! I rang mine to have a rant today as they havent answered my emails, confirmed receipt of my initial payment or updated my online thing. In fact the only things there has been evidence of them doing is cashing my cheque and selling my details to an insurance broker so they could cold call me! Cheeky beggars!
When i finally got through to someone it turns out that all sorts of wheels are in motion, searches underway, documents requested from management company etc. They havent forgotten me and filed my case under a big pile of rubbish after all. Then why not tell me??!!! What's the point of online updates if you dont update them, why invite people to email if you are not going to bother to respond.
My new motto is phone, phone, phone and then phone some more! I figure the more I pester them the quicker they will want rid of me!0 -
Oddly enough, it was the EA who kept me in the picture the most. He was always calling - I think the vendor found it simpler to deal through him. Use the EA - he doesn't get paid by you/the vendor for nothing!Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0

We rang every few weeks while we were waiting for search results ect. but when exchange and completion was getting nearer we were e-mailing sometimes several times a day.We found e-mail got more results than phoning as we could never get past the receptionist.0
