Hi all
I have popped over from the Oldstyle board for a bit of advice if you would be so good.
I use a yahoo e-mail address and recently went on a Professional and Executive jobseeking workshop (I am a tutor assessor) where the tutor said that if you send out a job application or CV using yahoo or hotmail etc it is likely to go straight into the prospective employer's spam folder.
So please can you advise how do I get a more suitable e-mail address? My internet provider is Sky.
Thanks
Gintot

If you really want a professional email address then you could purchase a domain name. No need though, any but a free email address should work. It may not prevent it hitting their spam filter though, it is not foolproof in that respect.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0

Yahoo also do @rocketmail.com addresses which are not commonly seen so the employer may very well not know it isn't your domain or ISP.

Why not buy yourself a domain name? You can get a .co.uk one for about £3 a year. Then you can set it up to forward the messages to whatever email account you like. And you can tell your email client to set the "from" field to be an email address at your new domain.
So, effectively you can continue using your free email account, but other people will "see" your email as coming from an address at your new domain name, and they will reply to that address, not knowing that the message then ends up in your Hotmail (or whatever) inbox...0
