new address registration

Options
I have just moved into a new build house, my postcode is registered with royal mail and shows up on their website so thats all good. The problem i have is when trying to get sky tv, phone and broadband and being told to register them with bt openreach first. I have scoured the bt website with no joy. Does anyone know how i can register with bt openreach? i was given a telephone number by sky but apparently it is only for service providers and the lady on the other end was quite unpleasant when she realised i was a private individual!
thanks in advance

BT Openreach do NOT have direct contact with retail customers, they are a business to business organisation.
You need to get in touch with BT retail.

  • I have just tried contacting BT customer help and they were of no use whatsoever, they merely redirected me to the BT Openreach website by pasting the link of the main site to me

I'm lost now what are you trying to achieve, are you trying to order a telephone line from BT, in which case its BT retail. BT OpenReach will not talk to you.

  • no, all i need to do is register my address with bt openreach, companies such as sky cannot check broadband and phone availability until that is done

You are being mislead, there is no way that you can register with BT Openreach as a private customer, you have to go via your service provider.

  • unfortunately i dont have a service provider as it is a new build home and i was previously with virgin but they dont have cable services in the new area. it appears to be a catch 22 situation at the moment

Have you spoken to someone at BT about installing a telephone line?

Its down to individual companies as to how often the update thier PAF data.
until they do,they wont have your address.
As you see,its already on RMs database
  • Im having the same issue more or less. We are moving to a new build in two weeks, it has only just been added to Royal Mail database though. I have phoned various ISP and phone companies who all say that Openreach need to update THEIR database in order for anyone to connect to their cables. I keep getting told to call BT and/or Openreach to find out why our new build is not registered but BT say they can't help and I need to call Openreach but there is NO PHONE NUMBER anywhere for Openreach!

Have you had any joy since Shandy?!

It clearly states on the BT Openreach website that if you have an issue you need to contact your provider who will, in turn, contact Openreach. You won't find a number for BT Openreach because they don't deal directly with customers.

They do have a "General Enquiries" web form on their site, so you *could* try that.

The developer should have registered the development via Openreach though. I moved into a new build in 2009 and it was all set up for me. I just went online and ordered my service.
