TalkTalk STILL LYING to Customers-But getting better ???

Seems TalkTalk are still ripping off their customers. Don't believe the dates they give you.
I was supposed to go live with them today. Their website even says my broadband is available today. However, no modem, no filters, no starter pack with installation CD. So rang them up.
Their reply was 'Oh that's just your commissioning date' (when I rang yesterday, they said it WAS my go-live date). Seems it'll now be 'two-three weeks before it's live' (even though the website says MY BROADBAND IS LIVE !!)
Of course the money is still being taken from my bank.
*** CORRECTION ***
I have to admit that today (22nd March) I got connected to their broadband, so a week late. Can't complain as our lines are fed by fibre, so more work for BT. Even when connected, a few minor technical problems, but nothing too serious. Their support desk sorted it out. Getting 2MBits, as expected. So maybe, just maybe Talktalk are sorting themselves out.

Sounds like they're fobbing you off, to install ADSL on a line takes at most 5 working days!0

I signed up for the free "up to" 8Mb service in April 2006. Phone line switched to talktalk within days, broadband golive date of June 2006. No modem arrived but I had my own router so just had to change settings and connected in June (no confirmation from talktalk tho) and suddenly golive date changed to 22nd Feb 2007. Seems there are two golive dates, one for when you initially get connected to a talktalk service and another one for when your exchange is unbundled - I didn't realise this when I signed up. So almost a year into the contract I'm still on a 1Mb service and my second golive date is long past. They also say they will give you the fastest speed your line capable of until you get unbundled - again not true despite several unanswered emails. Talk Talk and Microsoft Vista
Just got a PC with the new Microsoft Vista operating system and found out that I can't use my Talk Talk USB modem with it and will have to buy another Talk Talk modem (at a cost of £29.99) - this time an Ethernet one. Not even sure if that will work with my other laptop.
Another Talk Talk nightmare.0 -

Suspect its more to do with you needing an updated driver for the modem that works with Vista, as opposed to a new modem/router. TT are not the only Isp having this problem.
If your modem is a speedtouch 330, there is a beta driver for Vista on the thomson support page.0 -

Unfortunately my driver is a SAGEM f@st 800 and accoring to the Craphone Warhouse site it won't work. http://www.talktalk.co.uk/talktalk/servlet/gben-server-PageServer?article=MAIN.UK.TALKTALK.STATIC.HELP.HELPDESK.MAINPAGE&topicSelect=BROADBAND&catSelect=Installing%20Broadband&showFAQ=VISTA
Any ideas without having to spend another £30 much appreciated!0 -
Signed up to broadband on 27th Jan, was given go live date of 28th March.
My existing broadband went down on 5th March so was v Pi**ed off! I had already had my modem delivered, I rang talktalk and they gave me my password/username over the phone and I was on line the next day.
The service is reliable and fast to date, although interestingly they never wrote with my password and if I track my order on line it still says I'm awaiting my go live date!
I have no vested interest, I just wanted to post my mainly positive experience.

Our go live date was July 2006, they kept asking for MAC code which we kept supplying, but they were so slow I guessed the code expired a few times.
To cut the long story short we eventually got connected in November, got username and password but no installation cd.
After a couple of weeks of nagging phoning them with no result we managed to borrow an installation cd from a friend and got going.
Has been working fine since :j
Never received starter pack or installation cd or any response to numerous complaints, though.0 -
Talk Talk have a load of monkey sales staff wandering around our local Sainsbury store this weekend talking the spew trying to suck people in they approached me and my g/friend on sat evening we asked them if they watched the watchdog tv show or read any online press about their employers ? At this point a lady who was getting sucked in to our left looked up and said "Whats this about" the sales staff were looking a tad uncomfortable at this stage, I only told her the truth luckily she had not got to the stage of adding her address or signing the form so she left quick "another victim saved from the horrors of Mr Dunsts cowboy outfit""Don't panic just chill out and smile"

If it is reliable, will be a happy chappie !0
