Returning retiring Expat

I have recently returned to the UK after >35 years overseas, working for non-British companies mainly.

After two divorces which each cost me a house I have my own house now, but very little money.

I am 75 and have little prospect of well-paid work, although I am fit and willing to work at anything.

How do I get back into life in England, get money to live on and pay my bills?

Imagine if an immigrant asked these questions, (basically thats what you are) there would be uproar. Why can't you get help from where you have been payin tax's for the last 35 years.

For a start he was born here and lived here for 40 years previous to this. Don't be so judgemental the OP is looking for advise on finding work not asking for handouts!

Working as a volunteer for a charitable organisation is one way to get into circulation: I have encountered many older people who do this - one was 95!

I am not sure if you are entitled to any benefits - probably not.

Citizens Advice can be helpful so are worth trying.

If you are not a troll then I think you will have problems with the habitual residence test, you will need to be self sufficient for some time when you return.

Nowadays you only need 30 years' contributions for a full pension. As you seem not to be claiming that, it will be considerably more than when you were 60/65.

The OP left when they were 40 so to have paid in 30 yrs worth they would have had to be working since the age of 10
