Two hours later me and my wife are having lunch and somebody knocks thedoor, we keep eating and then they knock the window.
We go to the door and its a Sales Rep from Safestyle saying that hes gonna give us a quote, i said "But i told your canvasser that i didnt want any work done yet", the rep said "This quote is valid for a year sir and im sure you'll like it, i've just driven 80 miles to get here, it wont take a minute"
So i let the cretin inside, he steps through at about 1pm, gives me all the pitch, drinks about 6 cups of coffee (with 3 sugars!), then says "For the 6 windows and conservatory we'll do it for 26k".
I laughed, he then went on, we jostled and he said "But because of the BOGOF offer we'll do it all for 12k" and he was frequently going back and forth with his manager on the phone, making it harder for me to kick him out, this was our first home and mortgage together and we were naive.
He then came down to 10k, the time was 7pm, id missed the football - - I was !!!!ed!!

    He left.

In the nicest possible way Stamina - you are too wet. It's your house and your time - next time say a polite no to them, then when they persist tell them to Foxtrot Oscar.

    To get rid of them:

    (1) Write a letter of complaint deeming all further phone calls as harassment. Withdraw their implied right to cold call on you in future.

    (2) Register online on TPS

    or

    (3) Change your attitude and don't get riled by them. Book another appointment but go down the pub or stay in and get them to quote but say that the landlord might pay...

Also I'd add to point one, any further phone calls you will bill them £10 (or however much you can think of) a minute for them wasting your time.

I used to get hounded by talk talk since they got my details from a company they bought out Onetel years ago. After telling them repeatedly to stop I ended up getting a device called truecall that blocks all cold calls, not had one since since march 2010. I still get them but the device blocks them. It costs £80 but its well worth it does more than just block cold callers you can record and it logs all calls

Any cold callers at home I simple say no thank you and shut the door, I now dont even give them a chance to utter a word. You can always tell they come to sell. If they strike a conversation with you and then befriend you that's when they think they got you

I just tell cold callers that im busy but if they would like to give me their home number I shall call them back after 9 pm.
Strangely enough nobody has bothered to give me their number.
I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.

I have just had all my windows and doors replaced by Safe Style, it was a big job, with lots of windows and doors, much larger than a normal housethe sales person was really good, he did take a long time, but this was because he wanted to make sure he got the order correct, the first surveyor was not a nice person at all, I asked him to leave, then called the company to complain, they sent another surveyor immediately, he was a nice man full of apologies, he took his time to make sure he got the window and door order right first time, the job was broken into 3 jobs to keep the disturbance to a minimum, the job went well, there was a problem with a door and 2 windows on the last fit, icalled the company, told themof the problem, they sorted it out within a week and sent another set of installers to replace the door and fix the installation of the 2 windows, really please, even after a couple of problems, very, very pleased with the company.
All companies may have from to time to time a bad employee, Safe Style employ over 1000 staff, of course they are going to have the occasional bad staff, I have employed people all my working life, even I have made mistakes when taking on new staff, it's down to how the company reacts to the issues, in my opinion, Safestyle reacted extremely well, I am very, very pleased, I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for replacement windows and doors, excellent

you were almost believable, up until you said the words Safe Style...then again the icing on the cake was quoting the staff count at the company...why would any customer know that.

Unbelievable! (quoted so it can't be edited either)

Actually, I had my windows and doors installed by them in 2005 - I didn't take the finance package (I took out a home improvement loan via my mortgage lender) and took the BOGOF offer - my parents were with me when the salesman came round, and they helped me negotiate a price I was happy with.

(Prepares for the flames, even though I'm not a newbie poster.)
