Now, some of you might remember this topic from last year...lol

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3550975

It was me that posted it, and in the end...i took the line down about 3 days after they used it.

Lol, i feel like such an idiot and to make me feel even worse, i've just seen their clothes hanging out on the balcony.

I took the line down and brought i inside, i put it back out about a week ago.

I want to approach them (i havent yet introduced myself to them) and suggest that they use the/my rotary line (upon somehow throwing into the intro the noticing of their clothes hanging on the balcony).
But how can i explain the bringing down of the line?
Do i need to?
Should i mention it?

Could i say that my mum needed it?

Could i say that i always take it down in the winter?

Or should i say nothing?

But i am gonna suggest that they use it.

Why am i such a horrible idiot?

Neighbours are sometimes like relatives, there is no explaining what they can get up to sometimes.

Maybe your neighbour thinks that the rotary washing line comes with the building, and its there for you both to use, there maybe a language problem perhaps, difficult to judge someone not knowing their background fully.

I think that I would approach them and introduce yourself as their friendly neighbour and take it from there. You are giving yourself a 'rough time' at the moment to what might be a simple misunderstanding.

Just put it back up and leave it I think. It's always nice to introduce yourself to your neighbours, so you can still go and chat to them without necessarily mentioning the washing line.

And give yourself a break! Don't think you have done anything wrong, we all get het up about things that later on we wonder why.

    Thanks man.

When i introduce myself do you think it's ok to tell them thats its ok to use the line..?
Or should i leave that down the line..? (No pun intended)
It probably is a simple misunderstanding, butwhy should i get so petty over a damn washing line..
    pfft
Should i tell them to use the line today?
I just wanna be cool with my neighbours, thats all.

    Sorry, one other thing..

I kinda want them to use the line now, lol, i think they have a kid and because of me theyre drying their clothes on the balcony!
How best could i tell them to use it..?
Do you know what i mean...?
I know youve probably got more important things to be dealing with but i dont want to create atmosphere with anybody, ive not encountered any...but i..u get what i mean.

    What can i do?

Why not just be straightforward - better than making up excuses and getting all mixed up. Just introduce yourself say you hadn't realised they didn't have a washing line and would they like to use yours? That way you're not lieing and you don't have to remember what you said cos you told the truth. :)

Firstly I would just do a normal wash, then leave the line up, I would not mention it to them unless you casually meet and you then notice their washing on the balcony.

We have as you say more important things in life to worry about, but neighbours are an important part of our way of life.

    Kind regards

Why would it be wrong to introduce myself and offer them the line after mentioning their clothes on the balcony?
Like smallblueplanet says, i think being straightforward is the way to go here.

On second thoughts I think I would just go up and introduce yourself and follow the suggestion of smallblueplanet.

That would be the easiest way and then you will wonder what it was all about. They may become the friend that you are about to meet.

What is to stop them from buying their own line and putting it in the garden?

    Is the garden shared?
