SPAM named, to an email address I use for MSE

On the contrary, it makes perfect sense . An email address used only for MSE receives SPAM addressed to the OP by name.
if it was randomly generated email spam they wouldn't have the OP's name would they? Just the address.
Your explanation makes sense, the jumbled english original post would make no sense to most.0 -
If the spam is going in your junk mail folder just ignore it, the fact it has your real name suggest it was leaked by either one of those sites it must be the one that has your real name (most likely facebook).
have you got your email address visible on your facebook page and it is in turn not hidden? even if it's not public if it's only visible to your friends if one of them has been compromised it could have stole it then.
Spam is a funny old thing I get some on an email I have never used for anything, use a email service with a good spam filter (Gmail and Hotmail IMO are both excellent), as long as it goes in the spam folder I don't care any more.
The way I see it is your email address is public the same way your house address is as long as the locks don't get picked (password hacked) all you can do is ignore it.0 -
If the email was addressed to your real name it can't have been leaked by MSE because they don't even store that information.
I think you are missing the point;
I think the OP did exactly the same as I did when they registered with MSE. The email address was unique to them and MSE: he might have used MSE@saver0811domain.co.uk or he might have used his real name in the email address. eg: MSE@fredsmith.co.uk
If he gets spam addressed to that address it is HIGHLY likely that the spammer obtained that address from MSE - somehow or other.
MSE DOES keep the email addresses.
I too have received spam addressed to my unique MSE email address. It is easy to stop it though, I block any mail addressed to that address and use another address for any dealings with MSE: MSE2@......0 -
If your email address is out there after an attack, it's out there. There's little MSE can do about it now.0

Well, yes. I think that is fairly obvious.
The point I was making, and you completely missed, is that the email address is out their now. It's not like they can ask the nasty hackers for it back, is it.0 -

I didn't miss your point - it was so obvious that it wasn't worth commenting on. That is why I have my own domain - if anyone "out their" (sic) has my address they can keep it and do with it as they wish. I have thousands more I can generate.0 -
Good for you.0

If you have a Facebook account that you don't use I would delete it. Make sure you permanently delete it and not just deactivate it.0
