Unkown payments on an expired debit card

Today we receive our latest bank statement to find £10 has been paid to shopperdisc.co.uk with an unknown card number. After talking to the bank we find this was my husbands previous debit card which expired June 11 for a membership?. We contacted shopperdisc who said it was for a membership which we joined in Jan 11 via ticketmaster?? We had booked tickets but at no time can remember joining shopper discounts or can find any emails from them confirming membership, T&C's, password ect. They also informed us that £10 had been taken monthly since Jan 11, they have now cancelled the membership. When we went back to the bank but they say that we gave permission for them to take the money and there was nothing they could do.
I find it hard to understand, they say it is legal and acceptable to pay out on an expired card when presented with a request for payment, but if I tried to use this card to buy something it would be rejected. With my magazine subscriptions when the card is due to expire they contact me to update details, same with paypal. Is there any way I can get some of this money back???

It doesn't help your case that they have been taking £10 pm since January 2011 and you have only just noticed.0 -
You'll have been offered a voucher or such at checkout on Ticketmaster:

That's where they'll have signed you up.0 -
