Looking for a Local Garage with good reviews?
Hi,
Im looking for a local garage backed up by good reviews. Which is the best website when it comes to garage reviews?
When it comes to garages/mechanics is there standard approval logo they must have? like e.g. Gas Safe for gas workers, Fensa for double glazing etc.
So what standard/approval a garage/mechanic must have?
thanks,

Unfortunately you will have to ask your neighbours, friends, workmates for details of the best local, friendly independent. There is no requirement in the UK to be a qualified anything to open a garage/car sales pitch and the online sites are clearly polluted by owners/staff praising themselves to the rafters.
The "trade bodies" and their endorsements indicate just how many badges and plaques their salesmen can sell on.0 -
theres no such thing as a good website for good reviews
theres many schemes out there to point you to a good garage but in the real truthfull world theres only one real true guide and thats local recommended by people that use them
beware that they might not need your business even in these austere times so dont go in the big i am because your business will be rejected or priced according to attitude
ask friends work colleagues neighbours local pub library street corner where the nags gather etc
remember any scheme is only there to garner trade so it will always have good reviews only
from someone who doesnt want or need to be in a good garage earner scheme0 -
So any random tom, !!!!!! and harry can pick up a toolbox and work in a garage without qualifications?
I'm sure mechanics must be qualified to industry approved level.
This isn't 1991 where there was no internet so I have to ask people for advice.
If they got a website for chip shop reviews I'm sure there must be one for garages.0 -

Review websites don't really mean much though, as the company could just get some mates to publish good reviews of them.
Speak to friends and neighbours about where they take their car. That's how I find most of my garages. The ones I didn't find that way have usually ripped me off because they think I'm a girl and know nothing about cars  One of those was easily solved with a claim through the small claims court
My latest garage doesn't have a website of any sort and isn't even in the yellow pages. Brilliant garage though.0 -
I recently had some work done at a garage listed on one of the review schemes. When I arrived to pick up the car they kept me waiting for an hour as they had to replace a wrong part they had fitted.
When paying the garage did not give me any information on how to leave a review. Once at home there was no method of leaving a review on the website, coincidence?
I now use the back street garage my workplace uses for its company cars.0 -

This is the site I've used. It gives lots of information about the garages, which I find helpful, but as others have said, they could have got friends to give them good reviews.0 -
Linni thanks for that link and not to belabour the point, the nearest garage to me on their list (it carries wonderful comments and has a high rating!) is so bad, not only do the trade openly laugh when a car comes in with one of "their" stamped-up service books, but the German marque they claim to be experts in forced them to remove all references to their brand, logos etc., from their stationery and site!
They should have spent less time making up bogus recommmendations and more time buying in the proper kit and staff to do the job properly.0 -

I live in birmingham.
According to that that website Autopoint Ltd garage is the best in birmingham with 300+ reviews giving it a 90+% positive feedback.
Is autopoint the best in Birmingham? Has anyone used them?0 -
