TV Repair question

Hi All



New here so I hope this is on the right forum.


My 10 weeks old 46” Plasma TV had broken down. They came to pick it up today and I signed a form. One of the guys went to the van to get bubble wrap. I mentioned to the other guy that I thought it was poor breaking down after only 10 weeks. The guy got very gruff, picked up the unwrapped/unprotected TV and left the house. The other guy was just coming back with the bubble wrap and was surprised at his actions.


I telephoned and emailed to complain about this as I was concerned about any damage or scratches on an otherwise perfect TV in showroom condition.


My question is: What can I do if it comes back with any scratches or is damaged?

Most likely wont be coming back!

Im going to predict that you will most likely get a new replacement although if it does come back with any damage then you have reported and should be able to push for a new set if not a part refund.

Yep, only about 26kg, certainly not advisable though, quite a bit of strain on only two parts of the frame.

This comes under the heading of "Don't shoot the messenger". What was the point of ranting at him? Would you rant at your postman about the cost of stamps? (It has nothing to do with him.)

I can carry a 50 inch plasma no problem. The weight isn't really an issue, just the size. Nearly did my back in shifting a 36" CRT though, even with 2 of us!
If that thing comes back with scratches, complain again. If you were doing this exactly right, you would have taken pictures of the set before they collected so you could prove it wasn't already damaged.

You do not pay (not yet anyway) nearly £700 for a stamp.

If I did I would expect it to get there before I posted the letter with the reply a week before that.

But you are correct, I was just so annoyed at the TV breaking down not only after just 10 weeks but at the start of the European Championships.

As for complaining about it, I thought the whole incident was treated as if it was a rental set that did not belong to me rather that an expensive (for me) TV.

Taking a picture is a good idea and one I will use in the future.

I just didn't expect what happened to happen.

I received not only a loan set but excellent customer service throughout apart from that one incident.

I know I am worrying for nothing as it will probably come back in the perfect condition it left in.

I hope so because I just hate conflict and stress.
