Ecar insurance

Basically, these people are a joke. HoweverI have some questions that I need help on.
I have insured my car with these, set up a direct debit that is paying a credit agreement.
Now Ecar are asking for my licence details. I dont have this to hand (l,ong story) however I have filled in one of their forms permitting them to contact the DVLA for this information.
Unfortunately, they keep sending me emails threatening cancellation if they do not receive this form. I have sent it but have no way of checking if they have it.I cant get through on phone and the email system is a nightmare (unless they are threatening me, in which they are quick at that)
If the worst comes to the worst and they cancel, what happens with my DD? Am I commited to paying this credit or should I just can it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Don't let them cancel! This will cause you big problems.
Resend the form they want using recorded or special delivery so that you have proof of posting and receipt.0 -
Try phoning 01454 635860
This may be the office building switchboard number, so tell a white lie, that you were talking to someone in Ecar and somehow have been transferred. They may then transfer you to Ecar. Otherwise they may just give out the £1.03 a minute helpline no.The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -

How do I stop them?
It will be cancelled on Saturday, my form went last Saturday and i cannot contact anyone to verify the status. They are a sham.
Ive used phone numbers, been promised a call back, Emailed the complaints dept twice and used the contact form.
Can I cancel before they do?
What happens to my credit agreement if either if us cancel?0 -
The main problem with them canceling is that you will have to declare it to other insurers and your premiums will sky rocket.
Get on to them, demand a fax number and fax through the form, stay on the line till they receive it.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -

could I organise other insurance now then cancel on them?0 -
We were with ecar and they were fine.We were informed when we first took out the policy that a photocopy of our driving licences were required,we sent these copies and all was confirmed within a week.
Why did you not send the form recorded delivery? Then you would have proof that they had received it.0 -

its not the point though is it?
They should be contactable by phone or email. All they do is avoid these calls and send generic emails back that can not be answered.
They have made it physically impossible to comply with their rules because I have no way of knowing if they are going to insure me or not beyond Saturday.
PS - anyone know yet ifI will have to pay the credit agreement or am I as well cancelling it and cutting my losses once they tell me that the insurance is cancelled.0 -
If the policy gets cancelled by either side, then they will add their admin fees and charges. The credit agreement will end.
It will be much cheaper if you can prevent the cancellation.0 -
The point is that they clearly state that they require a copy of your driving licence when you take out the policy and they give you 21 days in which to do this, not a short time.
They are an internet based company, this is why they are cheap and want to keep their costs down by customers managing their policy online.
You say you dont have your driving licence to hand, what are you going to do if you are involved in an accident or stopped by the police and you are required to produce your licence within 7 days?0 -

No, it isnt the point. It never was the point and your ignorance here is irritating given that I have already explained what the real point is.
I have no issue with providing these details. I have provided them, however after providing them they are uncontactable to verify that everything is ok. This is what the problem is.
To highlight this, I have had an update today. They dont know if the form has arrived because they are busy and can not tell me(not my problem) therefore they have extended the date. I have only received this response after threatening them with referral to the FOS and with legal action. Rather strangely, my earlier non threatening emails werent even responded to yet now they have responded twice in a day.shakeitright wrote: »You say you dont have your driving licence to hand, what are you going to do if you are involved in an accident or stopped by the police and you are required to produce your licence within 7 days?
I am going through a separation at the moment, I can not get these and there is a time lag between being able to change my address with the DVLA and get a new licence sorted. It is for these reasons that companies like eCar have the forms in place to fill in to resolve these issues.
The problem is that they are disorganised and uncontactable. You keep pretending that the issue is my reluctance to send these things in. It quite simply isnt. The problem is that I have complied but they cant verify that I have.0
