thanks for a great answer. The police said the home was quite far away so i'm assuming one of the others might live a bit closer (or they were just out walking around causing havoc).
when we asked about the home the police seemed like they didnt want to say the name of it or where it was - maybe in case we seeked revengejust saying it wasnt a million miles away but also not that close
I blame the bin men - they probably would have carried on walking by without the bins being there :rotfl:
I'm just hoping it was a one off thing and doesnt happen again. wife is scared now especially with a baby on the way.0 -
Forgetting the potential problems of getting your head kicked in.......
You can only make a 'citizens arrest' if you KNOW that an arrestable offence has been committed and you KNOW that the person you are detaining has committed it. Powers of arrest for the average citizen are rather limited I'm afraid.
Yes, I know before anyone says it, how many average people on the street know what an arrestable offence is??? The best examples are criminal damage and assault where you can see an injury to name a couple.
Basically, you could only get away with this if you can see that they have caused criminal damage by throwing the stones and can identify which one was responsible.
Anything else runs a risk of being classed as assault if you lay a finger on any of the little darlings.
An a retired police officer, I would recommend that you just continue to make the calls when it happens and let those in uniform deal with it. It would be awful if your family had to deal with the consequences of what could happen to you if they turned on you.
