Quick - Help me dismantle my washing machine

Has anyone ever managed to dismantle their machine? Mine has just died. Smoke came out of the drum, and it's on its last legs anyway. Not worth having repaired.
But I hate the idea of having to pay for someone to take it away. I can't afford a new one yet, but would love to just get this out of the way.
I'd like to be able to dismantle the beast and then take it to the tip in dribs and drabs.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

its easy enough to strip it down. but you will need a pair of tinsnips to cut the casing into sections.
or maybe if youre strong enough you can bend it and fold it up like a cardboard box?Get some gorm.0 -
im sure someone on here was on about uses for washing machine parts in a recycling thread (one was featured in the weekly email). suggestions included using the glass from the door as a salad bowl, and the drum as a brazierknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

If you order your new one from Tesco, they take the old one away for only a fiver. I ordered my machine online and you have to order and pay for them to take it away, also online. You have to have it uninstalled before they come round though...0

Can't you just take it to the tip? Or do they charge for that these days?
Failing that, try and sneak it in the wheelie bin... ;-)0 -
Can you not just take it to the local tip? Then let the community service rifraff strip it apart.0

Our local council wanted £26 to take ours away. Hubby was adamant he would not pay it - so took ours to pieces (literally) and gradually put it in the bin over the next few weeks ( it wasn't hard - just do a bit at a time) .....the only part we couldn't put in was the concrete block - so buried it iin the garden.0

jst do the "stupid woman dont know what i'm doing" routine
and ask the guys that bring your new one if they know what to do, they'll probably do it for you0
