How can I tell a shill bidder when they are clever?

Option b) for sure, you would feel conned, guess not too let down as you paid a decent price anyway. And getting a house for £145,00 is probably a bargain in most places
2p off is still 2p off!0 -

I've just been stitched up by a greeder seller this weekend. I won an auction where I and 1 other were the only bidders. I placed the 1st bid and gave an odd number as my max bid. Along came the 2nd bidder making a number of attempts to outbid me. They managed to get the amount up to my max and gave up, probably just a coincidence to guess my max spot on and not go over by 1p.
After winning I got nosey and looked at the sellers and losing bidders feedback and noticed they featured in each others feedback a number of times. I looked further again under the 'feedback left for others' tab for both users I saw they had left identical feedback comments for each other. We're one was leaving for the other they were changed slightly.
Far too many coincidences if you ask me so I emailed ebay via their help menu (took a while to find the bit on shill bidding) whether there was shill bidding in the auction I had won. 2 days later I got an email telling me the seller is no longer a registered user and couldn't tell me anything more. I looked back at the losing bidder and they too are no longer a registered user.
I feel a bit guilty, but thankful some greedy git didn't get my hard earned cash.:j:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0 -

Well Done for reporting this! my first response would probably be (If I had proof of shill bidding) I would threaten to report to ebay so the seller drops the bids and u get the item cheaper then report them!
play them at their own game!

I never really mind overpaying post and packing if it is clear upfront, however I think this one must be the worst I have seen for a while. £8.50 for a NIke wristband!

I suppose I could have given the seller a chance but in doing so could have incurred a negative feedback for trying to threaten/blackmail them! The seller had used their high rating to give negative to other ebayers when they weren't really due and in some cases really offensive. Basically a bully which really cheeses me off. Ebay is a mine field at best of times, if the seller and losing bidder have got a genuine reason for this situation they've got 90 days to appeal. It's their problem not mine or my money's!
If anyone gets sussed about shill bidding just make a complaint, after ebay have looked at it they'll either deal with it or say isn't a valid complaint.:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0 -

Cant you report them for that as fiddling the ebay fees? I hate paying the fee's too but £10.00 postage for something that will cost 40p to post is a pi$$ take (was £10.00 on earlier auctions)
