Been on broadband with them since April 2002 and never had a problem... Very happy with customer service and with connection speeds. Very little downtime expereinced.
Just my £0.02

My parent's have just completed their 12 month contract with PlusNet and have now moved to Metronet.
I would agree with John that they experienced very little downtime or problems throughout their year. They are also normally in the Top 10 of the ADSLGuide speed tests.
The change to Metronet was prompted by the high or non-existant price cap on their lower-priced connections.
I also used to use PlusNet at home but moved when they increased their price cap from £34.99 to £99.99 (I was on a one month contract).
The last time I looked, the £99.99 cap seems to have quietly disappeared as well (although I can't say I hunted for it).
Neither my parents and I are heavy users - always under 5Gb per month - normally a lot less.
All reasonable precautions are taken to protect the PCs from viruses/spyware/hackers but I would "never say never" and would not welcome a very large surprise bill because of some new Internet-based threat which is not intercepted en-route.
Thanks
