feel like i have been duped by tmobile
Options
renewed my contract with tmobile and was told that i had unlimited internet but when i looked at my details it said internet 250mb. Queried it as i renewed my contract based on this being part of the package and they said that I do have unlimited browsing but i only have 250 meg of downloads. I feel duped but they say there is nothing they can do but that i could upgrade to full monty for more money. I ordered it via the telephone and they said i was still in the 7 day cooling off period but then reversed that as I picked it up in store so now I am stuck with this for 2 years. Does this seem unfair to anyone else or is it just me?

It is unfair, they very nearly got me with the same trick. If I didn't specifically ask if there's any limit on downloads (and got told it was 250Mb) I would have signed up like you did.
I'm starting to think the best way to deal with these networks is online, at least then you know exactly what you're signing up to.0 -
The problem is that DSR don't apply to upgrades and T-mobile's internal policy is too vague. It is not clear if it applies to collections in a store:

I'd go back to the store at the busiest time and complain loudly about how you had been lied to about having unlimited internet access. Play it right and maybe the shop will be happy to give you a refund to stop you scaring other customers away...
Or dispute it again with T-Mobile and ask for a copy of the recording of the phone conversation in which the terms were agreed (if the call was recorded, you're entitled to a copy of the recording for a nominal fee under the DPA). Then (hopefully) you'll either have the proof of what was said and be able to challenge T-Mobile in court (if necessary), or will have confirmed that T-Mobile have no proof of the terms that were agreed... and therefore should (I would imagine) have a hard time proving that you owe them anything... But I'm no lawyer...0 -
I renewed my O2 contract over the phone. I had very specific requirements about overseas calling and carefully got the woman to confirm that I would get XXX number of free minutes to call the UK from abroad. This offer sounded too good to be true and when I checked online they had no tariff anything like it. So I called back a few days later and they told me what I had suspected, that the package I'd been put onto was something different. I got mad and they agreed to terminate my contract. It wasn't actually that much hassle. A contract includes anything agreed verbally as well as written, so they had sold me the wrong thing (as I argued - I also offered for them to listen back to the call recording).
I think "unlimited internet" is misleading or even false. When you browse the internet you download web content - text, pictures, etc, that is how browsing works. So even without specifically downloading music, films, etc, your browsing usage IS surely limited. So the customer service adviser should have advised you that at the point of sale. Or by claiming unlimited browsing, that is factually incorrect, no?
Surely you have a case?0 -
I'm on T mobile & admit that iit is annoying once you go past your download allowance that you can't watch you tube or access app store etc. Also, they don't allow you to use Skype for voice calls which sucks.
On the positive side, they don't charge extra & certain streaming services still work including spotify & tv catchup.0 -
Thanks for all your replies. I dont think the store were at fault because all they were doing was dishing out the contract that had already been assigned by the customer services team. At least now thanks to you guys I no longer feel like I am having a blonde hair day. I suggested to them that they listen to the call but the girl on the phone said that they dont record all of their calls and it would take ages to wade through to find mine (the latter of which is a load of rubbish as I am sure they just have to do a search for my number) I am waiting for their complaints team to call me so we will see what they have to say but am not holding my breath.Smile though your bank is breaking:)0
