A 12 month deal with Virgin has just expired for broadband, £20 for 30mb. Fair enough, they now want £30.
Back in March the 30mb was supposed to double to 60mb but this has never happened. They offer me £25 for 60mb, and I say I should have already been getting 60mb for £20! Had they upgraded on time. So my 30mb for £30 should be 60mb for £30 because it should have doubled, and they will offer it for £25, saving me a fiver.
Ok, but I'm happy with 30mb, it's fine for my needs. So how much can I have that for? £30! This is what I can't get my head around. If I stay as I am on £30, my 30mb existing speed will double to 60mb anyway. But if I want to downgrade to 30mb, i.e. the old 10mb or whatever, it's still £30?
So my choice is 30mb for £30 or 60mb for £25. When my preference would be stay at 30mb for £20 and forsake the speed upgrade. I don't really follow their logic at paying more for less.

their logic is simple.
they create bundles, they charge you the fee. the bundle you are on no longer exists which means you have a choice of what is now available.
The terms of service are also different between the products and as such VM are using incentives to have people on newer terms and newer services.
Additionally a change in service will also usually result in a new contract period, something they will discount as they know you have to stay with them for 12 months where as the current deal you are on allows you to walk whenever you want...0 -
You're overlooking the fee Superhub! Yes, there's another minimum term, but frankly cable BB is the only way to go and is not be mess of compromises that is ADSL.0

Please Please Please do not upgrade it seems like a good idea but the WIFI hubs do not deliver 60mb we are getting 2 and 3 meg on speedtest.net when we had a completely reliable service before we upgraded now have nothing but problems which VM seem to be either denying or doing nothing about. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.0
