...By this logic no one would ever be able to cancel their contract within the cooling period??? or is it only 3 who have such T&Cs??I know you are trying to help, but we are digressing from my main query - is there any way (that you know of) of cancelling this contract without having to pay £100?
Buy PAYG Nokia 2220 on t-mobile from e2save for £19.90+£10. It will be unlocked. Then block the camera. Use getpoundsback to convert unwanted credit into £6ish cash.
Quidco £3.0 -
As soon as one starts using service DSR protection stops.

Quidco £3.
I need some help here. Can you please tell me how to block the camera?0 -
This depends on the phone and how strict the school is. The easiest way is just to paint the lens. More drastic actions that I can imagine involve superglue or sandpaper for causing an irreversible damage to the lens.0

Carphone Warehouse do the Samsung Galaxy Europa for £55 on 3. Which is not bad value for money.
It does have a camera. There's not many phones that don't these days.0 -
Guys Dad

3 has the worst t&c for cancelling contracts, unfortunately. They are also the worst to deal with from a CS point of view as well. Their t&c are perfectly clear and legal, though. Do I think they are fair? No - I tend to agree with you. One reason I don't use them
Breaking down your predicament - you have bought a service contract from them.
Do they provide the service? It appears that they do so they are fulfilling their part of the contract.
Will the sim work in a mobile phone suitable for their service? Well, yes, you have confirmed this.
Did you order the sim on condition of it working with your son's mobile? I presume that this was not part of the contract conditions and they didn't mislead you, so No.
Did you commence using the service? Yes. If you consult the web, you will see that this cancels your right to cancel the contract.
You, therefore, have no legal grounds to cancel the contract and 3 have a history of not rolling over when asked for goodwill.
Fortunately, you are not into that much - £120 over a year. You can make use of the service by a bit of jigging around. I think you will have to chalk this up to experience and will no doubt be more careful next time.0 -
I've found an unlocked S-E M600i from ebay which is 3G without camera at
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Sony-Ericsson-M600i-M600-Smart-Phone-GSM-Unlocked-SE12-/290613065918?pt=UK_Mobile_Phones&hash=item43a9e378be#ht_6075wt_1163
Has anyone used it on the 3 network? This looks like a pretty good phone and cheap too - would appreciate any feedback before buying..

Well, yes, there are tons of reviews you can get - some with pictures/videos - on the net.
Just Google "M600i review" and see for yourself what you think.0
