Halifax are turning down 90% of all claims now.
The offive in the phillipines causes more problems than it solves.
They use standardised template paagraphs, cut and paste jobbies.
Many of thiose that go to FOS win.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

I have experienced the Standardised templates, the operative when asking for my reasons for complaining gave me a choice of answers from the template, this is why I have the impression that my complaint is being denied because my reasons cannot be explained in a standardised template.0 -

Regardless, you now have full opportunity to explain fully your complaint (albeit to FOS rather than directly to the Bank).
Good luck.0 -
Thank you for the clarification, I have drafted a letter to the FOS, Hopefully I can put my case across clearly.
Thanks again.0 -

Forgive me if im missing something but you appear to say I should have Immidiatly signed on which I eventually had to but my anger at the Halifax is because firstly I had paid my PPI contribution faithfully for 6 years and then when I needed to claim couldn't, secondly I cannot contact the person who is making the final decisions which are based upon a report generated by a person whose first language isn't English (from the posts above it seems i am not alone)and finally I am not being advised of why they do not feel I have a case (I feel that the responses received from this site have positively changed my viewpoint somewhat, why cant the Halifax explain themselves)
My belief is that I was sold something I couldnt use and therefore feel I should have that money refunded, you appear to say thats its not the Halifax bank staffs responsibility to know the DSS rules nor understand my personal situation, as such it is therefore my responsibility and furthermore I should have refused the PPI knowing that my bills were covered anyway.. If that is what you are saying then surely they dont have to pay out any alledged missold PPI due to it being the responsibility of the purchaser for purchasing a product that isnt suitable, appologies if I have the wrong end of the stick. Confused and looking for enlightenment, I am unfortunatly a layman when it comes to money matters.
one more question, with the above considered, ie single parent and covered for eventualities due to having young dependants, where would my PPI have been of use, it appears that were I to suffer an industrial injury for example the DSS would have covered me, I cant think of a situation whereby the PPI would have come into its own, what was I paying for?
The rules were simple for PPI. You are made redundant and you sign on as unemployed then you get the unemployment cover payout. That is standard and you were not mis-sold on that basis.
What happened next was you went to sign on but you were persuaded by fair means or foul not to register as unemployed but as a single mum not able to work. This is not unemployment. That is the problem. Someone who is unemployed is actively seeking work. Someone choosing not to work is not unemployed.
Hence why I feel your anger towards Halifax is misplaced and its the DSS that let you down.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Wow, Thank you both very much for this, It now appears to me that the DSS just saw a single mum and are programmed to give out the 'single parent form', the Halifax counter staff are programmed to get the PPI form signed before being allowed to move forward and I was under the impression that the only criteria I had to meet was not to be in paid work! not be out of work in a particular way..nobody offering advice on the best way forward or how to resolve the issue, none of us with any insight into the others requirements nor how our actions affected the others! hhhmm.0
