Just one of the many reasons why I find RBS the best bank to use for my main current account, not for savings, but for current account facilities they really are fantastic. Since I've used their Digital Banking system I've never had to call them once, no issues and if I ever lose my card I know I'm sorted at all times

Chor blyme, I never knew that a bank that pays literally zero % interest on any deposits is so brilliant!0 -

As I said I use it as my main Current Account, any savings etc I have with other providers so the % doesn't bother me on bit! It may be something important to you on your own Current Account but both the peace of mind and ease of use I've had over the years in my experience is worth keeping as my main account.
Just my opinion, that's all!0 -
You are right, I am surprised to hear that anyone would ring their bank on a Saturday (or any day) to say they left their card at home and they therefore now can't access their funds but need the bank to somehow solve that problem.
Give us more details please, this sounds like tremendous material for a new comedy series on TV.
Well, due to the rich tapestry of British society you get all manner of people banking with a given bank, and some bank customers are not the most reasonable of folk.
When I worked in the basic telephone banking department of a bank, I would sometimes get this sort of enquiry on Saturdays, normally followed by a rant about how the bank was denying access to funds. As a result a baby was going to starve or nappies could not be purchased (there would nearly always be a baby involved), and this was naturally the bank's fault. One gentleman even told me that if he saw someone in the bank's uniform in the street he would "chin them", after I told him that there was really no way we could offer him access to his funds because he'd left his wallet at home and the branches were closed.
The worst calls were what I'd call "Wonga Calls" where customers have card transactions being taken by Wonga or another payday loan company and then swear never to have heard of Wonga even though we can see payments into their account from them.
Other current and past bank employees will be familiar with this sort of call and the uncomfortable conversations that result...0 -
It looks really useful. I can think of a couple of occasions when this would have been very helpful for me. Although I didn't think of blaming the bank for my own poor memory in leaving my wallet at home.0

I wonder if people will type random six digit numbers in to Natwest cash machines hoping to win the jackpot.
Better odds than winning the main lotto prize.
