Ntl/virgin Charges

Options
I recently took up the broadband with NTL and the first bill came and told me had £10 to pay. I then called them and stated that when my mums account was closed the £80 credit was to be transferred into my account.
Sounds simple.
They agreed that they would credit my account with that £80.
Fine and dandy.
I got a letter from VIRGIN media stating I owed them £10. So again, a telephone call was made.
I told them again that I was reassured that an £80 credit was applied to my account the last time I called. Which they agreed to, and I should ignore the letter.
Ok.
I then recieve my usual monthly bill last week and it states that I owe VIRGIN media £55;

Rental £10
Other charges £35
Balance brought forward £10

The other charges are Late Payment Fee which is £10
And an installation charge of £25

And so, again (!), yet another telephone call was made. To which nothing really could be said but the usual cold responses.

After all the explanation of the situation, I guess I'm asking if anyone else has had any trouble with the change over of NTL to VIRGIN media ?

Also, after all of the calls made to the 0854 number, I've very possibly spent over £20 on telephone queues, waiting to be told that "everything is ok with your account" when clearly it is not, and to "just ignore the letter".

Comments anyone??
Thank You

This sounds incredibly frustrating Darlo. It seems like most of these big companies operate like this. Incompatent customer service.

This is no direct help but if you ring again you could save money by using the geographical (cheaper) phone #. Do a search for Virgin here:

    http://www.saynoto0870.co.uk/search.php

and there are a load of NTL numbers. There's one for the head office switchboard.

I hope you get it sorted. Persistence and developing an iron temperament for these occasions helps. Also, maybe send a letter. More official?

    Good luck.
