Insurance Fronting Question

From the insurer's perspective I understand it is slightly different.
Car in wife's name but insured by husband - husband will get paid out on claim but technically (legally) everything they have is joint.
Car in son's name with mum as main driver - mum gets paid out in event of claim, but doesn't legally have to give any of the money to son. Legally messy, so insurers don't like it. That's on top of the being defrauded out of premium.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

My wife has held a license for just over 18 months, I've had mine for nearly 20 years, and I have two years NCD (no accident history, I simply didn't own a car before this!). Best insurance prices we can get are ~£600/year with her as main driver, ~£400/year with me as main driver, all other details the same.
Overall it's hard to say who does the most mileage as I tend to drive on longer journeys, but we've declared her as main driver and accepted the higher premium, because she uses the car for commuting to work and felt the insurance company might use this as an excuse to wriggle out if she claimed for an incident on the way to/from work and wasn't the main driver.
From most of the comments in this thread, it sounds like we're wasting money and wouldn't be considered to be fronting if we made me the main driver.0
