Well hello everybody - I can see I'm going to have to read all the previous threads as as usual I have missed everything :rotfl:
Had a lovely time away in Shrewsbury and we'll be back but maybe not at that hotel which was uber nice but uber expensive (Premier are opening there this Autumn) - but then it was our 10th wedding anniversary I guess. Eating out every night though gets pretty boring, pretty quickly LOL I bought OH some Apollo 1 memorobilia and he bought me a new laptop  - it will be useful as I do a lot of writing in bed and I think he wants me to not be in the office all day but be able to sit in the garden and type. So that's nice....I was a bit shocked TBQH. The budgies were also fine but I don't think we'd want to leave them more than three nights again.... enough food in their house to sink a battleship LOL but we simply don't have anyone to look after them and I'm not asking my neighbours as I don't like or trust them TBQH....
Back to reality now although yesterday I did go for a charity shop rummage and found a Midwinter cake stand for £4 of the type I collect. I like to think that was a WA present from my parentsI always get a bit of luck around now and my birthday so always think of it as being from them.
The place I've started doing gig reviews for has said they will be getting some free festival tickets/passes so I have put my hat into the ring for a set - nothing ventured etc - and I've just been taken on by another typing agency as the one I'm doing for is getting very sparse - only 12 pieces of work for the last two days for me...
Went down to London for another scan for the IVF and I've got to take a course of tablets and then it should be all systems go for another one - so of course every church in Shrewsbury got candles lit in it and prayers said... I don't mind mithering the Big Fella :rotfl:
We're now trying to be very frugal indeed and last night's dinner leftovers (chilli and rice) will be chilli and chips tonight - I've just had a poached egg which I could have every day. OH is taking HM tuna salad to lunch...shame he doesn't like eggs.... I was quite stunned though as we normally get our tuna from Asda for c 50p a tin (can't remember exactly) and got it from Sainsbury's the other day on the way home - 74p  - their basics range too! Basics tuna a luxury? Thank goodness it does him two days..... We're having an Aldi open locally soon and most people can't wait. So it will be market, small shops and Aldi for the supermarket stuff - oh and we're getting an Iceland too....
So all in all just the same stuff. Washing is on and all birdies inside and out have been fed. Would like to be tootling in the garden but it looks as though it's going to chuck it down. Is it anyone else or is it a bit nippy? We were fine in Shrewsbury (even got sunburn on Sunday) but I've wearing a thermal vest now and have had a hot water bottle for the last two nights....
Right I will see if I have anymore work - probably not - and if not might do some accounts.... Have a nice day everyone and hugs to all who need or would like one!But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Islandmaid - don't know what's been resolved but just read your post re your daughter and I'm incensed. How DARE she talk to her parents like that. She's 16, she's sitting exams, big deal. There are thousands of people sitting exams and thousands of them having a much tougher time than being asked to clear a sofa of their crap. There are also thousands of children who would love to have a spa day for a birthday present but just can't get it. My 16 birthday present off my mother was a penguin copy of Wuthering Heights. Using the old "oh I'm stressed" line is NOT an excuse for acting like a spoilt brat and it's about time she realised this. What I would do is (a) go on the spa day with a friend and if she complains just say "well you said you didn't want it and I wasn't letting it go to waste" and (b) give her a card and that is IT. When she kicks off about that say either (i) well babies have tantrums and babies don't really need gifts do they? or (ii) presents are earned they are not a right and you've made it clear you don't want anything so.... etc.... If she still doesn't like it well you can always point out that she's welcome to go and live on her own in a flat AND sort out everything to do with that AND feed and clothe herself AND cope financially AND do exams. She'll soon find out what "stressed" is LOL! That's my two penn'th anyway LOLBut I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

Hi all,
Thank you so much for your support and words of wisdom and sorry for being so self indulgent x :A
I phoned the spa today and basically blurted out the basics of the story - they have given me a voucher which I can redeem when ever I like within a year - DD doesn,t know that yet.:o
I didn,t have an apology, just alot of I love you,s - I know I sound stupid, but I don,t want I love you - i want sorry and not in words in actions - to add insult to injury, I had to withstand the OH being moody all night and this morning, I know he,s upset and angry too, but I feel like he,s blaming me. Hopefully he,s shaken it off by the time he gets home.
I had also bought DD a posh box and filled it with all sorts of things she uses, body spays, hair gunk, make up etc - I have decided she can have that, but and nothing else - as many of you have said, I will go to the spa myself, I couldn,t afford to pay for us both to go, but the staff had said I could loiter and for a small amount join her in the sauna etc so her loss my gain - i get the works now
I know its a chicken thing to do but I wrote her a letter, expressing how I feel about the way she spoke to me and OH, and how she acts in general at the moment - if I spoke to her face to face, then I would have seriously lost the plot and done or said something I would have regretted and I refuse to come down to her level.
Anyhoooo I do hope everyone else is okay - the sun has come out so I might stick some washing in and hope it dries before sunset and do a load of ironing - dinner will be a quick thai curry using a jar of green curry paste and coconut milk and some YS naan bread fosilised in the freezer.
Thanks again xxNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Bargainbird I am here, confess I've not been on MSE much past few days, spent my time gassing on FB
will try and make more effort although I haven't got much to report.
Off for weekend in Devon this weekend, can't wait. Weather likely to be total pants but who cares I GET TO SEE THE SEA!!!!!!!!! :j can you tell I am wee bit excited.
Tea makeshift as I have tap class. Two loads of washing done, cut the lawn and sewed a skirt for my stupid tap show next week. Am dreading it :eek:
Islandmaid good for you, enjoy your spa day and let DD go whistle. I agree about the I love you BTW, that's not an apology for bad behaviour.
Hugs and spoons all round xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Hello folks,
Been busy most of the day babysitting DGNephew, phew he's hard work-cant take your eyes off him for a second :rotfl:He's walking now and had already tripped up and bashed his nose when out with his mum,and did exactly the same here :eek:His Grandma,my SIL normally minds him Weds, but needed to go & get some glasses to replace her broken ones but was picking him up.She was rather longer than she said, but bought me a bunch of flowers from Marks to make up for it:)
I hadnt taken anything out for tea,but both DS out at the mo,and will have pasta when they get in,I 've had pasta/chilli/prawns.DH pulled his face, not a pasta fan really,so he's still waiting for some lamb chops he bought himself/chips,& watching footie.I might go and have a chill out hour crafting now.Hope you all have a good evening.

islandmaid well done :T start as you mean to go on , you enjoy the spa you deserve it and hopefully it will be a lesson learned for DD x ( its hard but as redruby says she needs to know you are the boss, no exceptions)
both my DDs are doing exams A levels and gcses , i will be glad when they are over , ive hardly seen them bothDD2 had maths this morning - her nemesis hopefully she will pass
day off tomorrow , so off to do the shopping and then back to the cleaning - I know how to live lol
hope everyone is ok xx0 -
IslandMaid - the "I love you"s are a sign of guilt - and quite right. You go to that spa and let her go whistle Dixie. A letter is a good idea too, isn't that what all the self help gurus suggest? Plus seeing it in black and white might "shock" her into behaving less like Violet Elizabeth Bott and more like a human. Have a hug and a very large bubble bath....But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0
