All you can eat data deals
Options
Hi everyone,
I currently have an 'all you can eat' data deal on my contract with O2 (because it is a hangover from when these were common two years ago). But now O2 don't offer this kind of contract, and I use an awful lot of data so think I need it.
Are 3 the only provider that offer this now? Is there a cheap way of getting more than 1GB of data on another network? I'm a bit concerned about 3's coverage...
Thanks for your help!

I know its not really unlimited but I thought TMobile also do this, I have heard though that they reduce the speed of data once you hit 500mb though not experienced this myself so can't speak from experience.
I have had a contract with 3 mobile before though (quite a few infact) and did find the speed was quite a bit slower and especially in Central London when sat next to friends who had contracts with other service providers. 02 always seemed to offer the fastest data speeds. This was over a year ago though.0 -
T-Mobile do unlimited internet as well- http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/sim-only/plans/
Why the concern over Threes coverage, have you had problems with them in the past? I can't see you having signal problems with Three given that you're in London, no harm in checking though.
You can check where there transmitters are here: http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/
Threes own coverage checker: http://www.three.co.uk/Support/Coverage
Have a look at giffgaff too, 250 minutes, unlimited texts and internet for a £10 a month top up. Uses O2 signal as well.

Thanks guys!
buscape, I heard that 3's reception was poor (admittedly less of a problem in London) and, more importantly, that you can't get 3G on 3 - so data roaming speeds are much slower when you can't get WiFi (i.e. most of the time when you're out and about).
I think that's what jenniewb is referring to...0 -
3UK ONLY offer 3G - they have no other capability, and their reception is as good (or bad) as any other network. It all depends on where you are!0

You can't always follow what other people tell you, the best thing is to check for yourself. You could get a Three PAYG sim to check the signal/data speeds if the coverage maps and site finder aren't enough for you.
As has been said above, Three operate a 3/3.5G network only so data speeds shouldn't be a problem unless there is a lot of people using data in your area.
I tend to get speeds around 4Mbps at peak times and I have seen it as fast as 6Mbps where I am.
When I was on T-Mobile a couple of months ago the speeds were nowhere near, never more than 2Mbps so Three is a massive improvement for me.0 -
3 isnt all you can eat anymore, its all you can nibble.
They're throttling users, significantly now.0 -

Giffgaff do unlimited internet for £10 per month, but strictly no tethering. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.
