I have 6K isa in Egg I want to transfer and another 3K in saving for new isa. I have tried to get my head around Natwest application and have failed. My current a/c is with Barclay so would be relieved if their rate is competitive. But any idea if the golden isa will include transfers too?0

says on Barclays website
"Our new Golden ISA product will be available from 9 March 2009."

What about First Direct's e-ISA fixed at 3.1%? It's not on the first page, any drawbacks? AFAICS, there're no penalties for withdrawal or closure.
Going to wait till the 1st week in April before transferring this year's ISA over to them.Tough times never last longer than tough people.0 -
The first post of this thread has been updated.
This was a really major update this time, as there have been a lot of rate changes, new ISA launches and a host of withdrawn products.
I've added the following:
- ING Direct Cash ISA, paying 3.00%.
- First Direct Cash ISA, paying 3.10%.
- Abbey Direct ISA (issue 3), paying 3.00%.
- Alliance & Leicester Direct ISA (issue 5), paying 3.00%.
- Chelsea BS Postal 30 Cash ISA, paying 3.00%.
- Cheltenham & Gloucester Fixed Rate ISA, paying 3.50%.
- Manchester BS Three Year Fixed Rate ISA, paying 3.31%
- Halifax Three Year Fixed Rate ISA, paying 3.05%.
- Halifax Four Year Fixed Rate ISA, paying 3.35%
- Halifax ISA Direct Reward, paying 3.00%.
The next update will be in midweek. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
The Barclays Golden ISA, paying 3.61% AER, has also been added to the list. It launched today. Unfortunately, like most ISAs launched by Barclays this time of year, it doesn't accept tranfers in.Please call me 'Kazza'.0

I havnt used this years ISA yet but have last yrs in NS&I direct isa, can I open the barclays golden isa for this yrs isa and then transfer last yrs isa to someone else without opening another "current year" isa...do most providers let you move previous yrs isa or do they all insist that you open a current year isa at same time
sorry if thats a really stupid question
thanks0 -

I wonder how many people are planning to open one of these on Saturday 4th April so that they can complain when it doesn't happen.
Be advised folks, Barclay's have a record on launching eye catching rates just before the end of the tax year ... and unaccountably not being able to cope with the "unexpected" rush!0 -
This has slipped into the 'accept transfers-in' list - but I can't find any indication that Nationwide (which stopped transfer-in from other providers) has reverted this policy yet?Nationwide Fixed Rate ISA Bond - 3.25%
Minimum deposit: £1.
Interest payment: Interest can be paid away or compounded.
Monthly interest option available? Yes (3.40% gross rate applies).
Notes: Fixed for three years from account opening.
Important: You can make just one lump sum payment by paying in cash or a cheque at any Nationwide branch. Once open, you will not be able to pay in additional funds......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
I have 6K in egg isa - as adviced in this thread i am planning to transfer it by mid march but will i lose all interest as it is not staying in the full year - ie till 6 april?
No, you will not lose any interest – you can transfer your Egg ISA at any time of the year. Egg will pay you interest up to the day before your ISA is closed.
StuHolmes – thanks I’ve added this info to the Julian Hodge Fixed rate ISA.Hi,

Yes, you can open the Barclays Golden ISA using this years allowance and then transfer last years to another provider. Most providers don’t insist upon you also opening a current year’s ISA with them at the same time of transferring in. It’s definitely worth reading the terms and conditions of the ISA you’re interested in to ensure that they don’t have this stipulation. This has slipped into the 'accept transfers-in' list - but I can't find any indication that Nationwide (which stopped transfer-in from other providers) has reverted this policy yet?
I think it had dropped this policy briefly, as the section ‘Can I transfer my ISA to Nationwide?’ did not state the info (below) when I added the ISA to the transfers in section:
“We are temporarily unable to accept transfers into Nationwide cash ISAs (including Fixed Rate ISA Bonds) from existing cash ISAs held with another ISA provider.
We have made the decision to stop accepting these transfers due to the unprecedented volumes that we have recently received which is preventing us from meeting the high levels of customer service that we aim to deliver”.
I guess that now we’re in ‘ISA season’ they’ve decided to stop accepting transfers in again. Fair enough, if they don’t think they can meet the demand, after all, they received a lot of bad press last year because of delays in getting accounts open. I've moved it back up to the 'New money' fixed ISAs section. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
No, Kazza, I don't believe that they did re-start accepting transfers in and then re-stop it again. It was just missing wording.0
