I changed my broadband and telephone provider from Virgin Media using the U –Switch site.

I decided on going for the Talk Talk offer, 12 months half price broadband and telephone. And I also made another saving off £60.00 paying my line rental in advance (£100.00); this left me with a bill of £7.25 a month for unlimited day time telephone calls and broadband for the year.

I was also eligible for a £25.00 Tesco shopping voucher for ordering via the Internet. It states clearly this voucher is only valid for new customers (me), and those not requiring a new telephone line (me).I checked with their customer services that I qualified,i also read the FAQs carefully.

I was assured by Talk Talk customer services this was in the post 2 weeks ago, it didn't arrive. I emailed Talk Talk after 2 weeks had elapsed ( also coincides with the cancellation period 14 days convenient) as their website tells you too do. I received an email back telling me I did not qualify for the Tesco £25.00 voucher as my line had to be reactivated at the local exchange. I telephoned Talk Talk where I was informed that just reactivating a telephone line at the exchange means you now have a new line lol ?,yet their own website says reactivating a telephone line normally costs £ 50.00 and is totally free, And since when has reactivating the line been classed as a new line ?it was pointed out to me that people don't read the FAQs properly and that in effect all customers swapping over needed a new line, just because you have a line going in to your property and a junction box, it doesn't mean that lots of work is not going on you cant see, so what I was told in effect was that nobody actually qualifies for part of their deal that they use as a main selling point

I said I was disgusted and wished to complain, who too ? says the helpful customer services advisor?, what do you mean says I ?. am informed I need to take it up with U-Switch who are apparently the distributors of the shopping voucher?,you see this is not now an official Talk Talk promotion says the Talk Talk advisor it is the sole responsibility of U –Switch ?,( confused so was I ),I am told to not use the U –Switch site but just search Talk Talk using Google where I wont find the promotion any more, I get a few of these each day says the advisor.

Disgusted I phoned U-Switch where I spoke to a man called Sam who I informed me this promotion was the sole responsibility of Talk Talk.

What a carry on, and what a rip off, advertising a promotion as a main selling point in this period of austerity and then not honoring the agreement ,and passing the buck, I chose them over SKY partly to do with this £25.00 shopping voucher, I have already reported this practice to the ASA,and want to make others aware off this scam.

I am locked in a 12 month contract now, but this experience has ensured it won't be any longer necessary.

I am disgusted

I've not looked into this myself, but ... the TTMF has instances of people renewing directly via TT Retentions wherein the Tesco voucher is part of the offer. Examples:

Like I said I signed up through the comparison site U-Switch.

I was told I would receive the voucher because I didn’t require a new line having previously been with BT.I only needed reactivating.

I waited 14 days as required to be informed I don’t qualify for the voucher.

The email I received from Talk Talk said I had a new line installed.

The customer service representative I spoke too said it was nothing to do with Talk Talk take it up with U –Switch.

As far as I am concerned based on my experience, is that Talk Talk make this promotion very difficult to claim, hence the waiting 14 days from your line being activated before you can instigate the investigation procedure, it is not a coincidence that the 14 days leaves the 14 days cooling off period expired so you cant change your mind after being ripped off and go back to you original broadband supplier.

sorry i should have been clearer,i initiated the claim procedure, via the link you have given me.Where by i received an email back telling me that because my telephone line had been turned on at the local exchange it constituted having a new line install, and that changing suppliers meant you had in effect a new line with Talk Talk. This is what infuriated me,my understanding of new line was that an engineer had to attend your property and install a new line and phone jack ( not so) just being switched over or reactivated at the local exchange is enough apparently.

hence why i think it is a scam, because all new customers will have to switch over at the local exchange ( new line)

    Well done dc !

I just saw their new offer at MSE. £50 Tesco Voucher.
Works out at £8.58p per month.

Since few years back,I have been with Tiscali and now with TalkTalk and pay £21.64p per month for their 24 Mbps BB plus Evening & Weekend package.
Actual speed has gone down from 13,402 kbps couple of years ago to around 8700 kbps. Still good enough to watch catch up TV and YouTube in HD.

Since I am already a TalkTalk customer, will they let me take up this offer?

I called 'Customer Services', they advised me to call 'Customer Loyalty' during their working hours. Thanks to saynoto0870.com I found a freephone number 0800 049 1002
Had a bad experience with these guys once. They switched me to another package though I did not ask for it but only discussed.
Had to file a complaint to get that sorted out.
I will haggle. Will also ask for email confirmation any offers they make.

    Hi everyone,

I registered for the MSE TalkTalk deal back at the end of May. Line rental for £114 for the year and the essentials Broadband 1/2 price for 12 months (£3.25). I also, as part of the MSE deal, should have received a £50 Tesco Voucher (my line was moved across from BT so no new phone line was needed), however despite my Broadband and phone going live on 11th June(and I've completed the 'My Account' on line), I've still not received my £50 Tesco voucher.

Has anyone else had experience of this and know how long it takes for the voucher to arrive? So far so good with my Broadband speed on the essentials package. I only really use it late at night and is hasn't dropped out too much. The quality of my phone line isn't as good as it was with BT but I only make about 3 calls a month anyway.:rotfl:

I phoned to TalkTalk Customer Loyalty, Retentions and few other departments without getting anywhere.

Then I called asking for a MAC code. This got them to negotiate a new deal. When I mentioned the special offer from Plusnet, TalkTalk offered more discounts and a one off credit of £14.04 to match!

Deal I am on now is:
12 month line rental in advance £114
    plus Eve & Weekend package £7.14 - £5 discount = £2.14 x 12 = £25.68 per year
    Total £114 + £25.68 = £139.68 less a one off credit of £14.04 = £125.64 per year
    plus a new router

    Comes to £10.47 / month
Best deal I had since the dial up days! :j

    Warning!
In the past I have experienced them having no record of promises of call refunds and such.
So always ask them to confirm their offer by email.
