Where an Insurer suspects fronting, checking the Log Book, receipts and bank statement is a standard check.
If the log book or receipt are in your son's name and / or the bank statement does not show the money then the Insurer will often void the policy.
What was your son using the car for at the time of the accident eg driving to work / college or social.
What sort of car is it eg citroen ax0 -

he was using it for social it was in my wifes name when we brought it but had changed to my son because V750 (private plate) was in his name all info will be shown on log book when change over happened, the car is a Seat Leon0 -
The log book and the private plate will ring alarm bells with the Insurer.
Did you buy the car around the time your son was learning to drive or passed his test
Edit : What sort of car is it0 -

I'm afraid I take back what i said earlier. A Seat Leon, with a private plate owned by your son, with a v5 in your son's name?0
