1 bag a month challenge

Not quite a bag, but I've just filled the boot of my car with old duvets & pillows. Off to the tip as I'm too ashamed to take them to a charity shop
They've been in the spare room for 3 years :eek:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
I'm in - though I have just donated three full bin bags full of textiles fit for rags to next door, they came from my darling uncle's house
not mine. So they don't really count.
For me it is clothes. I am determined that I will will will sort out our clothes and get rid of all excess clothes by the end of the month.
Eleven days and counting. Mind you - I didn't specify which month:oAnkh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Hi All!
Can I join in!!!
So far this month I have:
- given one bin bag of clothes to charity shop
- given one bag of DDs clothes to SIL
- given one bag of magazines to friend
Working on the next bags for July already!!! House feeling lighter every day!0 -

Worse still, my house is on the market and whilst the rooms are presentable, I've hidden the hoard in the garage, loft, garden shed and ..... spare room :eek: :eek:
Hoard includes:
carrier bags (see next item);
"bags for life" which I keep leaving in the garage, hence I then have to use carrier bags :mad:;
paper bags, carefully folded and stored for some unknown future use;
Newspaper - to light the odd open fire I have in the winter. But I have enough newspaper to fuel a crematorium
Little glass candle holders - saved and washed from every voltive candle I've ever bought
Ends of candles - see above. Plan was to melt these down and refill the voltives, but I need new wicks :rotfl:
Old clothes, sheets, towels and dishcloths - relegated to cleaning cloths or for use when decorating. Currently used by mice for bedding :eek: (in the garden shed, thankfully)
Books - every book I've ever bought; fiction, cookery, gardening, PC related (including how to edit the registry in Windows 95 :eek:)
Five staplers, four staple removers, three sellotape holders, endless post-it notes, boxes of envelopes that used to be self-seal before the gum dried out :rotfl:
Need I go on ......? :rotfl::rotfl:
Oh, this is so me.
I can't bear to throw carrier bags away. Keep meaning to take them back for recycling but forget. Ditto taking bags for life so end up with more carrier bags.
Clothes, I may want to wear some time in the future...
Candles, I'll find the time one day to melt down....
I have loads of single bed bedding and no single bed. Come to that, still have bedding from when first married and we are well past our silver.
Books - same as clothes, I may want to re read them.
Help, I need to get a brain transplant and get ruthless.

I did the kitchen Drawer of Doom last week - yay!
Went through the bookcase and sent a box off to Amazon Trade-In, and have a small pile in the bedroom to be chucked.
God a black bagful to go to charity, though I've just been asked for jumble for a jumble sale, so will sort through the black bag and send the more presentable stuff for jumble.
Cleared our bedroom floor yesterday - found a lovely dark green carpet - who knew????0 -

Brilliant idea. I really must get rid of the carrier bag of stuff that was decluttered last week and is still sitting in the corner of the dining room ready to go to the charity shop - less than 100 yards away!
Excellent point as well about stuff in exceeding stuff out, thus defeating the primary object of decluttering. Since reading the OP above I've decided that the two carrier bags I arrived home with yesterday containing yet another pair of sandals, a top and a pair of trousers must, therefore, contain at least three items that are going to accompany the first carrier bag to the CS tomorrow. So far up to two bras which I learnt recently some charities are appealing for. Good-oh.Better is good enough.0
