1 bag a month challenge!

Hey there & welcome to Hey everyone!
Welcome to the "1 bag a month challenge ".

The aim of this challenge is to declutter & get rid of at least 1 bag of rubbish a month.1 bag a month doesn't sound a lot but it certainly is a big help to having a much tidier and enjoyable room.

Everyone is welcome to join & post.
please share with us your achievements &
tips etc...

For me:
I am decluttering my bedroom as it is getting a little too much
to handle, so I am starting with the stuff underneath my bed.
I'm aiming to chuck out 1 - 3 carriers full.

    1 bag a month will only work if you have less clutter going out than coming in :)

    There are lots of decluttering type threads on here with challenges to take part in if you wish, you don't even need to post - you can lurk if you wish ;)

    Isn't that back to front? If you have less clutter going out than coming in, you'll have clutter! You need to have more going out than coming in to de-clutter :rotfl:

    Oh, this is the thread for me. If I don't do this, I'll be next on the "Hoarder Next Door" programme :o Worse still, my house is on the market and whilst the rooms are presentable, I've hidden the hoard in the garage, loft, garden shed and ..... spare room :eek: :eek:

    Hoard includes:

    carrier bags (see next item);

    "bags for life" which I keep leaving in the garage, hence I then have to use carrier bags :mad:;
    paper bags, carefully folded and stored for some unknown future use;

    Newspaper - to light the odd open fire I have in the winter. But I have enough newspaper to fuel a crematorium :o

    Little glass candle holders - saved and washed from every voltive candle I've ever bought

    Ends of candles - see above. Plan was to melt these down and refill the voltives, but I need new wicks :rotfl:

    Old clothes, sheets, towels and dishcloths - relegated to cleaning cloths or for use when decorating. Currently used by mice for bedding :eek: (in the garden shed, thankfully :D)

    Books - every book I've ever bought; fiction, cookery, gardening, PC related (including how to edit the registry in Windows 95 :eek:)

    Five staplers, four staple removers, three sellotape holders, endless post-it notes, boxes of envelopes that used to be self-seal before the gum dried out :rotfl:

    Need I go on ......? :rotfl::rotfl:
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)

    I will join in this challenge! I actually started at the weekend, had a clear out of my wardrobe and surrounding clutter and binned 3 black bags of rubbish and sent 3 carrier bags to the charity shop! It felt brilliant! :)

    I've just ordered a Kindle so the next thing on my list is the bookcase, anything non-sentimental can be charity shopped. There are loads of books on my 'To read' shelf but TBH most of them have been there for years gathering dust so I'm clearly not too fussed about them... if I really want to read it I'll download it! :)

    I also have to tackle the [strike]spare[/strike] junk room... the very thought strikes fear into my heart! :eek:

    With the amount of 'stuff' I have to clear I'm going to challenge myself to get rid of at least 2 bags per month... not counting what I got rid of at the weekend! I like a good challenge! :)

    Hmm this seems almost doable! I like all the decluttering threads, but then somehow don't actually follow through! Our clutter is certainly not of the TV proportions, but the's more than enough!
    Thanks for this - I'll set up my bag and begin!
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!

    Just sent 3 bags of books to the charity shop and I didn't bring any other books home with me! :T My Kindle can end up cluttered, it'll save my shelves! ;)

    I smugly got rid of a whole bin liner full of clothes on Saturday and took them to a local charity shop. I kept panicking as I filled the bag I was going to end up with nothing to wear.....when I'd filled the bag my wardrobe is still bursting at the seams so I think another trip may be in order yet.

    Still got OH's wardrobe to do but waiting for him to go away for a night next week so I can do it on the sly :)

    I found that too, my wardrobe actually seems to be more full than before... I think it's because I organised it properly and hung everything up rather than having it in a messy pile and/or shoved in drawers :o I'm going to have to have another go at it or I'll not be able to fit anything new in there! :p

    Haha me too, I found at least 10 items on the bottom just in a crumpled heap - they'd clearly not been near a hanger in some time!
