Help with BT broadband

Hope I'm in the right place for this question. I'm with BT total broadband and every evening for the last fortnight it seems to freeze and comes up with 'cannot connect to server' or cannot find server'. I called BT (0870 of course!) about this and they took me through Internet Explorer, after checking I had everything plugged in correctly. That worked ok for one night but since has been freezing again. I'm not what you would call technical minded but I really don't think it's anything i'm doing. I hate losing my connection every evening. Can anyone help me? PLEASE!
