Hi

I cannot decide between these two.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/STAINLESS-STEEL-CLOTHES-AIRER-HORSE/dp/B003MVHWT6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

This is also available on eBay.

http://www.airershop.co.uk/LeifheitPegasus200FreeStandingClothesAirerDryer.htm

This is the best price I've found for this.

Decided against replacing the old washing line as I'm sick of it snapping and it gets dirty and my main objective is to dry duvet covers, sheets etc.

Thoughts appreciated.

Thanks.

Edit: Just phoned up about the Leifheit and it's not suitable for sheets.

I actually wouldn't go for either. Everytime i've owned a metal one (i've bought good quality) they have started to fall apart after a few months.

The best one's i've found are traditional wooden ones. They last and do the job.

I have one similar to this

    Hi Oliver

I've really discounted wooden ones as they have so many mixed reviews. this is my problem.

Just been looking at this ( slightly cheaper than your example) and here we go again...

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8505394.htm#pdpProductReviews
  • I used to have one like this as I had a narrow landing where it fit perfectly, which was really good for sheets due to the length...

I now have this one, which is still good for sheets as you can collapse the lower rails to have one long hanging space...

I also have one similar to the first you posted which is great for clothes, but quite low to the ground so not as good for sheets because you have to fold them quite a bit to fit them on.

Have you an old fashioned Hardware type store in your local Town/City? I bought mine from ours and they had a good selection that I was able to look at closely and decide what was best. You may pay a little more than the internet or stores like Argos but at least you will have been able to examine it properly before purchase.

Yes it looks like I'm going to have to do that.

    Thanks for your help.

Just had a response from an Amazon reviewer who's had that airer for around 18 months. They have done it for me and I'm going to buy that. If it's carp I'll get the wooden one as Oliver suggests.

    Thanks All

........Spam comment deleted....... It will dry all you washing overnight. It just sits under the airer. costs 3p a night to run

I don't think anyone in their right mind would pay 120 Euros for what is basically a shelf that blows air.

Oh and btw, I've reported you for spamming.

While we're on the subject of indoor airers, I need a new one, but I need an A-frame type, with the sort of splayed feet that sits over a bath, and I need it to be heavy-duty.

What I need is the style shown on the left here
    http://www.dunelm-mill.com/shop/addis-a-frame-overbath-wire-airer-108226
The feet particularly need to be like those shown here, but it needs to be much sturdier construction. It's got to take wax jackets that have been used for dog-walking in the rain on hangers on the ends, for instance.

We only have a tiny bungalow, so going over the bath is vital.

If anyone can help me source what I need, I'd be most grateful, as I'm not doing very well thus far.:o I can find heavy-duty airers, but they don't have the over-the-bath feet.

    TIA

  • I know you went with the first one, but thought I'd answer this anyway...

The outside frame keeps it steady (only the bars fold down, the outer frame stays as it is) although I don't have any outdoor space so can't comment on how it would perform when it's windy. But I think it would be fairly simple to weight the bottom if necessary.
