Using 3.6.28 - in the last few days FF keeps crashing - 20-30 times a day mainly when I am navigating away or closing a window
I would update to the latest version but I much prefer the icons and layout of this old version
Any suggestions on the crashing?
Any way I can get the latest version BUT keep my icons?

Version 3 is so full of holes by now I'm amazed crashing is your only problem.

I was the same as you in the early days but, over time, I've come round to the "new" layout.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
The Flash update to 11.3 is causing Firefox crashes. I had exactly the same problems as you.
There is a work around here. http://www.ghacks.net/2012/06/10/flash-player-update-fix-freezes-crashes-in-firefox/
It seems very messy to me and not something users should have to do, so I've gone over to Chrome until there is a flash or Firefox update to fix it.
Regarding your other niggle, would https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firefox-3-theme-for-firefox/?src=cb-dl-users help ease the pain of updating. Personally, I would give it a week to get used to the default Firefox 13 layout.0 -
Finally bit the bullet and updated to the latest version
I tried to increase the sizes of the icons
Was able to increase the sizes of the

The address bar is tiny - have tried a couple of the add ons and they make no difference
I have ended up with loads of blue empty space at the top with extra large icons and tiny ones - its a mess0 -
Trouble shoot it by starting Firefox in safe mode http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode?s=safe+mode&r=1&e=es&as=s
If that looks better then you have an add on or preference that is causing the problem. Close and re-open Firefox normally to start looking for the culprit.
If you can't find it easily, the reset option seems to be painless enough. It worked well for me a few days ago. http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems0 -

OK sorted
My only problem now is that my address bar is not high enough - width is fine but I would like it to be larger (taller) if you know what I mean0 -
I know what you mean, but, as far as I know, I don't think that is possible.
If I come across anything I'll let you know.
edit: Try this one https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/make-address-bar-font-size-big/

I tried that one it seems to do nothing or very little indeed0 -
Strange?? It makes a huge difference for me. Too much in fact. Did you click the box to the left of the address bar to toggle the font size?0
