Accepted offer Wednesday - when should we hear about survey / pester EA ?

Our survey was 'middle of the range' according to the surveyor. He said there was some woodworm in the garage and a 'chance' of asbestos on one of our ceilings (which apparently is common). Just waiting to hear back from the buyers now! Hopefully they'll be fine about it

Mortgage valuation: who knows!? The mortgage advisor has taken the fee for the valuation, but is ignoring my queries about whether it's been booked yet (and when for, and when we'll hear more!)
So you conducted the survey before the valuation?
We are also waiting for the lender to confirm a date for the valuation now, they don't seem in much of a rush.
I am getting an independent survey but don't want to pay out when the valuation could be the big hurdle....though survey may be more so...0 -
Our offer was accepted on a Tuesday, the valuation survey done on the Friday and the report issued middle of the following week. So just over one week from acceptance to survey report.0

Yes - we felt that either could be a big hurdle (if either valued less than we'd offered, or the independent survey indicated issues we deemed too expensive / risky / severe). We were also hoping to get things moving pretty quickly, but our mortgage lender seems to have different ideas!
On the plus side, the independent survey valued at the same amount we'd offered and didn't highlight any major issues, so the valuation will hopefully be fine too.
Edit: Apparently the valuation was done last Thursday (07/06) also, and the mortgage advisor will now "get to offer" for us (I dunno how long this will take!)You were only killing time and it'll kill you right back0 -
Do you think it's worth me calling the EA today or popping into see them tomorrow ( they are in the local morrisons where I will be shopping in anyway) ?
Hubby just keeps saying the longer it takes the more time we have to sort, but I just want it all sorted and contracts exchanged so we can give our tenants notice.

Where are these tenants? in the house you are moving to or the one you are selling, If the former I would not exchange with you until they are out. (but I would be happy to exchange and complete on the same day)0 -
I wouldn't exchange either. Maybe the prospective buyers want them out before committing to a survey or instructing a solicitor?0

Last year we accepted our buyers offer on the 11th March and it was 7th April before they had their Homebuyer's Report carried out, so I guess in their case all the other *stuff* was being dealt with first........
It is a pain when you've accepted an offer then it all seems to go quiet - especially when the buyers have been tbe ones pushing for an early exchange/completion as happened in our case
Once the survey was done though, everything went relatively smoothly as hopefully will be the same for you

Hi
We accepted an offer on the house on Wednesday, when do you think we should hear about they survey ??
The buyers are already half way through selling theirs and we already own our new house so just waiting.
Will the first thing we hear be from thier survey guy ? Or will our solicitor contact us ?
Sorry never sold before and I soooooo impatient, selling this house is going to give me even more grey hairs !

Have you filled in all the forms that your solicitor sent you to complete or hasn't he sent you any yet. Nothing much will happen until he has them back from you. (I send them out with my initial estimate on a sale so that the potential clients have them there ready to complete if they want to instruct me, but a lot of solicitors wait until they are instructed d to send them out.)RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
The tenants are in the house we are moving back to but we are going to live with my parents for a while as the house needs major work doing.
The EA called today to say that the buyers solicitors have carried out all the work for thier sale (they have a cash FTB) and to move to sale agreed on ours ???
We are waiting for the forms from our solicitor still. I thought the EA had instructed them last week, they have said we should hear from the buyers surveyer within the week.
It's just so confusing - I thought they would have carried out the survey wether we had filled our solicitors forms in or not ???
Hopefully this time next week we should know a little more
