Hi

We are in a bit of a dispute with the AA insurance, we've cancelled and they say we owe 1 month still i think. They've sent a copy of the original credit agreement which states to "sign one of the enclosed AA Instalment Credit Agreements, returning this in the pre addressed envelope".

We never actually signed and returned this.

If we tell them that we didn't sign it will that be good or bad for us towards them?

They have given us a default and the reason given was because we cancelled the direct debit when apparently still owing a payment. I was thinking of saying to remove the default when we settle the account.
Do insurance companies put information on credit reference agencies as I've never seen any.

Regards

If their payments are via credit, they may use an external provider and in which case yes they can
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

It doesnt matter if you signed it or not. Whilst they cannot enforce an unsigned copy in a court of law, they can register it as a default on your credit file and destroy your ability to get credit. Also, they can register it as cancelled due to failure to pay requiring you to declare on future insurance applications for the rest of your life. That will see providers refuse to offer you cover or charge you more.

    Yes they do.

if you dont sign the credit agreement , you are not bound by its terms and they have to give notice of cancelation

Phone them up when they open on Monday, tell them you sent it in and ask if they have received it.

Ask who you are speaking to and write the person's name down as well as the time and date of the call in case they decide not to make a note on your records that you have sent the form back.

Sending emails to large companies isn't reliable as many don't look at them for days if they bother to look at them at all.

Thank you for your replies - my insurer is ecar and the agreement is with Panacea. This is a renewal - I've had a years insurance with them already with no problems. Just concerned as according to the letter a payment was due to go out on Friday and on checking my statement it hasn't. Will call them tomorrow and see what is happening.

Yeah i had to chase my insurers up, Weeks passed and they had not taken the money.
Normally i wouldnt have bothered but these days its too much of a risk.

Months down the line they notice they have not taken the money and camcel the policy, Car gets towed etc etc.

Previously the policy document would have been proof. And the companies own stupid fault for not taking the money.
