I bank with Natwest, their online banking is great. The only thing that irks me is that their credit card servicing is separate, although you can see cc balance and transactions on the main banking screen
I wonder why Ulster Bank haven't separated their credit card servicing ?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I agree with original assessment - heard great things, but for me they've been average. Their phone service is good - the phones are answered quickly, by someone in the UK and the reason for contact is usually sorted promptly. But their online banking system is archaic, and I do everything by online banking (or try to, but often have to ring them to get it done faster because their system is so old).
I'm unsure whether we'll continue to use them beyond this year, although if we move I'll keep the account open for the regular saver account.Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

I find FDs online banking perfectly good. It has one big advantage compared to one used by other family members - you can give a date when a payment has to be made BY! You can ask for a payment to be made on a certain date or for it to reach that account by a certain date, and it has never let me down! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I don't know of a bank that doesn't do that my Barclays & lloyds defiantly do.0 -
If you forget about the glitz and fancy web design and ask yourself two simple questions.
a) how often have I used FD internet banking and b) how reliable has it been? For me the answers are a) many times a month and b) totally.
That is my criteria. YMMV.
Contrast that to the modern Halifax site where your monthly credit card statement doesn't even show you the statement total..0 -
Then you may wish to read the T&Cs of the FD 1st account, specifically the part where say they reserve the right to charge you £20 to renew your fee-free overdraft. It seems (not guaranteed in any way) that if you use it regularly, they offer you renewal at the end of the term for £20. If you don't use it much, they offer it for free.
I use mine regularly but never go anywhere near the maximum. I have never been charged for it. If they did charge me for it, I would drop it. It just saves me taking money out of savings accounts when I run out at the end of the month.0 -

I also find it ok. I'm wondering what other services are provideed from other banks which FD doesn't offer?0 -

I honestly can't imagine, but seriously cannot understand what more people could want from internet banking.
I use FD's service almost daily and it does everything I could possibly want internet banking to do, and I think it looks clean and tidy.
All other online banking services I've seen (NatWest, Barclays, N&P, Halifax, HSBC) are cluttered, un-user-friendly and/or aren't as functional as FD's.
I think FD's customer base is just more discerning and less impressed by flashy but ultimately no more functional internet banking services.DFBX2013: 021 :j seriousDFW £0 [STRIKE] £3,374[/STRIKE] 100% Paid off

With FD's internet banking
1) You can't apply for an overdraft online
2) You can't delete payees online
3) You can't make overseas payments online
If the year was 2001, it wouldn't be much of an issue as internet banking was still a novelty in those days but FD have had >10 years to setup a decent online system which they haven't. However like i said earlier 2013 will see major changes in their internet banking, i suspect it will resemble HSBCs....minus the ads i hope bluuuurggghhhh0
