Disgraceful Talk Mobile attempt to screw over customers wanting to give notice

Options
With a contract end date in mid July 2012, I phoned Talk Mobile today to give notice to cancel.

No, was the reply. You have to cancel on the exact day, 30 days before the end of the contract and not a day earlier. However, if you are a day late, then they'll want another month's money.

Now I know Talk Mobile are an appalling company to deal with but this grubby attempt to screw some folk out of another month's money simply because it might be inconvenient to call on an exact date is another low for them in my book.

I got the contract as the Galaxy S2 was cheaper on 12 months with them than buying it outright but otherwise wouldn't touch anything to do with Carphonewarehouse with a barge pole. Now I wouldn't even consider them.

This is arguable, but theoretically can be correct.

This is definitely incorrect. You'll pay for one extra day pro-rata.

That said, their T&C are surprisingly vague about cancellation initiated by the customer:
1.1.2. For details on how to cancel this Agreement, please call our Customer Services team on 0870 071 5888. Alternatively, you can simply email us on https://www.talkmobile.co.uk/contactus or write to us at Talkmobile, P.O. Box 347, Unit 19, Southampton, SO30 2PZ.
I.e. you contact us and we will tell you that you can cancel only by giving us 360-day notice and you must give this notice exactly at 13:51:47 on Tuesday and only if it is raining outside.
    LOL. Appalling company indeed.
