Hey...just a matter of interest. Although you owe money, it doesn't mean you need to end your life. If you don't have the money, I believe that the credit card companies can't do much to you. You can apply to the court for bankruptcy? I am not an expert. It is just my thought. By the way, the last thing you should do is to blame anybody. It was you rather than anybody using the money.

Oh, now I read that as how much they owed - didn't think that they could be the monthly payments
Catch yourself on, im not sure whether or not to believe your imaginative story. You are only in debt to £450, u make it sound as if its thousands.
OP had a £9K limit on Egg, BT'd it to MBNA, and ran the Egg up again. Alongside these, it seems like he's maxed out his own bank's card as well. Indeed, he mentions "maxed" several times in his post.

The debt sounds like it is "thousands".
  • I'm sorry for the thread title, I'm sorry for posting in the wrong forum, I'm sorry to be so low that what i told here that people doubt it's true, my grammar might be bad and I'm not looking for pity or handouts all i was looking for is a guide in the right direction, my post is the truth and i gain nothing by making up story's, i have a wife a kids and i always been honest.

not threatening suicide just saying that i do suffer from depression, i have contemplating it a few times and i never took the final step due to the love i have for my wife and children, army was my life and my life fell apart after this.

i came back here and seen 12 posts and i thought someone had a answer to my post, only for a couple of post it was very negative from others, all i seemed to do now is apologies all the time for being me.....so sorry to you people who doubt my story.

i ripped the cards up, i wrote here in desperation for guidance not handouts.

Martin Lewis if you read this sorry from the bottom of my heart and if i can i will change the title to something more appropriate.

Mattie, as you are looking for guidance and some help to get yourself sorted, I suggest that you post on 'debtfree wannabe' forum where people there will help you and not condemn you.

These forums are to help people and not to judge!

There will be plenty of people willing to help you with your debt, and perhaps you could post your SOA (State of affairs) on the debtfree forum so people can give you help and support.

Things are not as bad as they seem, they never are.Like you said, you have a loving family behind you.You may not be working at the minute but with your pension and some state incapacity benefits your income must be at least halfway decent.I would say that your minimum payments on your credit cards are high but not impossible to deal with.
CONGRATULATIONS ON CUTTING YOUR CREDIT CARDS UP!!!
YOU NEED TO FIND FREE FINANCIAL ADVICE AND DEBT HELP.PHONE YOUR LOCAL CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU FOR THE RIGHT CONTACTS OR THEY CAN GO THROUGH YOUR DEBT WITH YOU AND HELP YOU GET IT UNDER BETTER CONTROL.
With all the money you have spent on the cards do you have lots of extra things around the house that you could sell.Try ebay!!!Sell, dont buy.
Dont worry too much!It will get sorted. There are people whos job it is to help people in your situation.GOOD LUCK>

  • thank you very much i have been reading on the forum mentioned and it does seem that i might be able to see light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm will post there soon, please i never came here for pity and I'm sorry that some people do doubt people like myself, it took me a long time to face up to my problems as all i do was just try to block it out but even this was causing bad health and mood swings from me in my house, i had nowhere to turn to so i thought i post here, I'm human and I'm at a very low point and when i opened this thread first time around and response from some upset me as i was not begging or trying to try and entertain all i am is desperate for knowledgeable advice.

sorry and big thank you to others.

Matty, others have said it already but I really do recommend that you post on the Debt Free Wannabe forum on these boards. The folks on that subforum are able to offer lots and lots of friendly, helpful advice on dealing with situations like yours. There is almost a daily influx of new people there who are in trouble and need advice, and they get it without judgement or harsh words.

There's always a way to fix a problem and, with the help of others, you should be able to find it.

I wish you all the best and hope to see you over in the friendlier area of DFW.

Have you tried the forces welfare associations? SAAFA springs to mind. I believe they are helpful and have cash help for ex-servicemen and women.
