When you say 'gel' are you referring to Gumy earbuds or silicone-tipped canalphones? There's a big difference between the two.

I was taking the 'technical speak' from the websites I was looking at and what they call things. I used to call them 'earphones', but found 'in-ear headphones' was being used.

I wanted to avoid the 'in-ear monitors' (taken from your link, thanks) that are inserted into the ear canal.

wba31 thanks for the suggestion but sadly they are the type I want to avoid. Although the ear canal ones are great for less sound leakage I just don't find them comfortable.

    Have you considered conventional headphones?

I haven't used conventional headphones in years. I used to find them really bulky and there'd be lots of noise leakage.

You're likely to get better results from circumaural closed-back or in-ear devices; earbuds aren't very good at that sort of thing.

This site has a pretty wide selection.

Sadly they do not say which woman's ear they were specially created to fit. Nor if they extended this special creation to both of that woman's ears. And why are the earphones not provided in the required stereotypical colour?

Rule of thumb: more colours = worse sound. ;)

My daughter (old teenager) likes these.

Whilst they have the bud, they are offset so don't really go in the ear so much.

Liked red too, they do other colours.

For me it is Sennheiser -have you tried different sized buds my wife uses the smaller ones supplied.

Bod - I must have funny shaped ears as the gel ones feel really uncomfortable.

    Again I'm the opposite - I find the earbud types really uncomfortable; I must have a smaller-than-average lug-hole. :D

    I haven't, but I will, thanks :)
