I Hate Washing Up

Funny I was just wondering as I filled my dishwasher just now if I use it too often and should hand wash more - I think this answers my Q! lol
I fill mine up once a day, twice if we have guests and would never be without it! am trying to work out how to best use stardrops so I can stop buying exp finish and fairy tabs to make it a guiltfree exercise!
Get a DW ASAP!We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Get a dishwasher hun - I don't have one and haven't the slightest need for one.
The agreement in my house has always been that the cook never washes up, and as OH only cooks once in a blue moon - I rarely have to wash up!0 -
No, we have very soft water ( had my kettle 10 years and had not a bit of limescale in it). I absolutely hate the feeling of dishes that come out of the dishwasher. I have to wet my fingers before touching them. It feels like how nails down a blackboard sounds. It's horrible. And i've had experience of 3 different dishwashers in 3 different places (parents, sister and work ones) and every one of the dishes felt the same.
I thought I was the only one!
Oh thanks JackieB - now my fillings are vibrating........:rotfl:0 -

Not that there's much on there. :rotfl:0 -
I think they should be compulsory.
I put every single thing in the DW.. it is only wooden stuff and thin glasses you shouldn't put in.. but it all goes in and in 15 years we have never had a mishap.
In the meantime the whole household able to reach the sink does the pot washing on a rota!
I even have had potties and mooncups and spectacles and vases in ours.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

What? Deliberately? :eek:0 -
My washing machine died so I spent a while researching Which etc before ordering a new one - handwashing & taking stuff to the launderette meanwhile.
My dishwasher died & I went out 2 hrs later, bought the replacement & had it delivered within the hour!
Does that answer your Q? LOL!
3 Adults here, hard water & I only scrape the dishes too!:mad: :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0 -

LOL! Who knew?!0 -
I just couldn't bear the thought of getting all the different types of washables in the same vessel. In my "hand-washing" household, the dishes are done strictly in this order:
Glasses
plastic beakers
mugs
cutlery
teaplates
replace the water
dinner plates
pots
pans/trays
and last of all
cat bowls - using a completely different cloth of course. If I could use a different sink for these I would.
They call me the Queen of the Five Cloths! One for dishes, one for cat dishes, one for worktops, one for the cooker and throwaways for the bin.
I'd need half a dozen different dw's to cope with my OCD.0 -
I haven't read ahead, so apologies if someone has already said what I am going to say.
Firstly, on rubber gloves: if they are slippery and you're dropping things, then you're wearing gloves that are too large. Ask any doctor or nurse, properly fitting gloves are like a second skin - tight but not constricting. (You'll be amazed what you can feel in a pair of properly fitted surgical gloves.) Go down a size or two.
Secondly, as far as I am concerned, only an idiot rinses dishes before they go into a dishwasher. What is the point of virtually cleaning dishes that are going into a machine designed to wash them? Just scrape off the debris.
Finally, the only way not to be overwhelmed is to be disciplined about washing up after meals. I make it a rule, too, that I can't start cooking until any stray dishes are washed up and the draining board is clear.
(I am not a paragon of tidiness just someone-else who has fought this demon.)"Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!
