Zafira is actually quite roomy, but unreliable with the dpf equipped diesel engine, get one with a petrol engine for long term reliability.

But the best option by far would be a Ford Galaxy or Smax, just look at the number being used for Private Hire work and Taxi work throughout the country.

Addison Lee, biggest Private Hire company in UK and probably Europe have several thousand Galaxies, serviced every 5k and sold on after 3 hard years, normally to be used as a PH vehicle by an owner driver at a smaller company, well known to do 2/300k without major issues, if well looked after.

My sister has a 56plate new shape Galaxy, diesel, and they have owned it from new, with no intention of replacing it any time soon.

Find an ex fleet Galaxy with above average motorway miles so that you can get a 2 or 3 yr old one for around your budget.

Here are examples of what is out there

The second one probably cost well over £26k new.

I don't think it is a bad price at under £12k, even if you have to pay am indemnity fee of around £100 on top.

There are lots of these Car Supermarkets around the country.

Motorpoint and Fords of Winfords (spelling?) are good ones with decent reputations, Trade Sales in Slough have a less decent reputation.

And yes, before the usual suspects pop up, I have bought several cars from CarGiant and that is where I would buy.

Addison Lee sell off their old minicabs at their own sales front in Camden. www.addleecarsales.com £7/8k for a high miler, between 90k and 115k usually.

In a strange spec most of them Edge with privacy glass, you can't buy that spec from Ford as they order them through FSV, though in around 2010 they bought some Zetec spec ones for some reason.

Good luck with your search, let us know how you get on.

    hi,

we currently drive a ford focus and have to fit 2 baby seats and an adult in the back which is almost impossible as the middle seat isnt a "proper" size seat.
just wondered if anyone could recommend a car that has 3 full size seats in the back whether it be a 5-seater or 7.

    Thanks!
    No clue about budget,but Citroen Picasso,Honda Frv,Galaxy,Alhambra.

I have to agree with the C4 Picassso. The middle row of seats have three full sized seats.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

A mini-MPV such as the Zafira will have more room in the middle row, plus you get an extra 2 seats in the back row (although they aren't full-size) which is useful when ferrying kids and their friends about.

zafira is nice but much better is a kia seddona both on spec and space.,for the growing kids

I have an 07 reg 2.0 TDCi S-Max which is I love. Plenty of space for a car seat, high back booster and adult in the middle or side seat. I find going in a normal car quite strange now as I like the higher driving position.

It's also handy having the two seats in the boot; not that we use them much.

Not sure what the new C-Max is like size and price wise and if you'd fit what you want on the back seat. They also do a Grand C-Max which I rather like the look of but DH isn't convinced about the reliability of the sliding doors (even though he is an engineer at Ford!)

C-max is similar to the focus in the sense that the middle set in the back is not full size. Again ok for 3 adults possibly but not for two child seats and 3rd person.
