I've just been going through old paperwork and I found in my dh's file a refund cheque for water from when we moved out of a property in 2004 :wall:
Do I have any rights to get it re-issued now or not? I assume I can't just go and pay it into the bank, or can I?

I guess that if you haven't cashed it, then your credit should still be on the account, no matter how old? I would give them a call, and ask for it to be re-issued.0

Cheques are only valid for six years. Banks won't cash after 6 months but that doesn't invalidate the six years.
Don't think the drawer has any legal obligation to reissue so you'll have to grovel muchly and don't be surprised if you get turned down.

If so the company accounts won't balance. Sorry you are wrong, handing over the cheque is exactly the same as handing over cash. There will be no credit on the account. If anything is out it will be the company cashbook but there was probably an adjustment somewhere down the line to make it balance.I guess that if you haven't cashed it, then your credit should still be on the account, no matter how old?

Err this may sound simple but have you actually tried to put it in an account, maybe then you'll find out what to do?Signature removed0
