BT Infinity exchange enabled

My exchange has just been enabled with FTTC but my cabinet does not seem to have been upgraded yet (Checker says I can't get FTTC), how long do BT normally take?

Just because your exchange has FTTC does not mean that your local cab does, or ever will do. BT will only upgrade where they can see a return on it in terms of potential uptake.
Why not just put your number into the BT Infinity site and see what date it gives you?

How long is a piece of string? There is little point putting any credence on a 'Infinity' exchange, because the clever stuff is in the cabinet, not the exchange. So, unless the cabinet is installed, there will be no upgrade.

Further, Openreach are having to get planning permission for each and every FTTC site due to its higher profile. It is not unknown for residents to object to the siting and you get a re-run of the NIMBY debate. Since OR are additionally seeking advertising consent (to have wrap-round advertising on the boxes by default) this causes further issues.

I'd look only at where a cabinet is physically present, as anything else would be speculation.

We are a pretty big estate that has terrible broadband speeds. Everyone complaining around here. Just noticed that talk talk says July 1st. I doubt planning permission would be declined since 3 and Vodafone just put up masts right next to cabinet + nobody around here cares about things being built around here

AH just went on the Broadland planning permission site - Extension of telephone equipment cabinet - Full Approval. On my road.

At least that's one less problem. Watch out for the delivery, it usually takes a month for the full install as they also need to run fibre back to the exchange.

Our exchange was done last August but the cabinet not until April despite high level complaints with ofcom, bt, the county council and local MP over unuseable broadband speeds

Well it all hinges on the last drop - if the cabinet is in place, then at least there is a service on the horizon - but not otherwise. To be fair to BT. they go where they see the quickest profit - despite what the Govt says, nobody has a 'right' to fast BB.... it is what the firms will provide.
